December 15, 20169 yr Yeah, I'm going to try to see her when she comes to the Strathmore in February.
December 21, 20169 yr That was great! I really like the ... folk? Jiggy? Celtic? ... flavour they gave it.
January 3, 20179 yr A friend of mine described the lead singer as what would happen if Freddie Mercury and Anthony Kiedis had a child. Plus, catch as fuck.
January 5, 20179 yr heard D.A.F.(German American Friendship)'s front man perform their hit Der Mussolini on a local high school radio station's German rock hour...It was so catchy that I sought it out on youtube & found this gem...

January 14, 20179 yr ^both are kind of disturbing, but I somewhat agree. The first one is sort of sad, she's a girl that for some reason seems to have lost her innocence. The girl in the Blind Faith cover still has the bland look of a kid despite the nudity and her incipient development.
January 15, 20179 yr as an average scandinavian, the first image feels really innocent, and reminds me of my own childhood, when everyone tried to look adult by smoking, hidden behind the school tribune (at age 12).

The first photo "Candy Cigarette" is of the American photographer Sally Mann's own children, which I think gives it an added poignancy. To me, the subject seems to be literally looking beyond the childhood her siblings are still happily caught up in, and only the mother among them knows what that means at that moment. Mann caught a lot of flak for photographing her children nude and in emotionally raw situations, but the results are often truly beautiful in my opinion.
