Looks like they are Canadian, québecoises. I searched it because the guitar fretboard seemed weird, too many frets. It’s microtonal, but probably not all the range.

No offense but fuck you Doug. I don't need to hear that.

  • Jay Leno is such a douche it's unbelievable. I'm about to lose my brother and I'm having a good cry watching this.

Merci. French-adjacent persons?

Thought this was worth a re-listen, given the movie release:

^^ I remember a party even before high school, we were a little drunk and watched this and The Man With The Child In His Eyes videos....there were like 7 of us just transfixed at her beauty and movement....so lovely!

I enjoyed watching this guy go apoplectic:

Definitely microtonal.

Pretty sure I have posted this before but, personally, I need to listen to it fairly regularly.

She's a treasure.  Every time I've seen her live, she's been great.  First time was touring Life on a String, then the show right after 9/11 when she did effectively the same set as on the live album, Live in New York aka Live at Town Hall, and then once at the Birchmere where she had technical difficulties and she was STILL great.

I actually just quoted the grits section of New Jersey Turnpike to a group of people from the South that were arguing for and against grits.

After 21 years we finally get a video

(also is there a setting to not auto play the dailymotion videos?}

(Referencing an older discussion about music vs musicals) I'm not a fan of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar....but I love that song "I Don't Know How To Love Him."  What a wonderful rendition!  Especially considering it is not in their native language.  The folk song and their harmonies was wonderful too.

Glad you enjoyed it!  Pelageya has been one of my favourite singers for the past 10 years or so, she has a really good feel for the music and how to interpret it.  She could be singing anything from Soviet love songs to new age pop and it all somehow sounds right.

Singing in Portuguese, just because

And back to Soviet love songs

Heard this on the local college radio station the other day and kind of liked it. Need to look into them more.

Let's fucking do this.

^^^ I've had a live version of that song for a couple decades, on CD-MP3 and now my iPhone.  Not as good quality sound, but WHAT A FUCKING GOOD SONG!  Even my (non-Stretch) son Andrew chased this down and has it on his playlist.

That and Romeo were my favorites by them in the day.....
