August 12, 2025Aug 12 ^^ I think I have this on physical media somewhere....but much of it is in boxes so not 100% sure. I just have to say, too: when Sinead O'Connor smiled, it made me want to smile......
August 14, 2025Aug 14 Author Very local South African tune. The singer was my high school headmaster's son. 🤷♂️
August 14, 2025Aug 14 1 hour ago, Voltron said: So Bob Dylan was your headmaster? 😳 Had to listen to the tune to get the drift
August 18, 2025Aug 18 Author Alec's been on a big 90s alt rock kick and has been sending me some stuff I'd honestly completely forgotten.
August 27, 2025Aug 27 Pelageya is one of my favourite singers even though most of her songs are in languages I don't understand. Here she performs a Ukrainian folk song with Veronika who was her student on one of their game shows.
August 31, 2025Aug 31 Love that video.....I only wish they had Bernie's intro where he accentuates that this is "HIS" version of "my song." Plus....I realize that "Hip Bill" dancing....is kind of like Trump! 🤣 Edited August 31, 2025Aug 31 by skullguise
September 3, 2025Sep 3 Author 7 views? Fuck me, maybe I'm the only person who likes bleak Swedish conceptual art/dreampop. (Actually, when I put it like that ... 🤷♂️) Quote Fleeting Temples is the solo project of Rickard Sjöberg (Lacrosse, The Mountain Council, Discolor) along with various friends. Based in Uppsala, Sweden. "The Invisible Man" (2022) was a concept album about toxic masculinity and featured lots of guest vocalists. "Zenith / No Shadow" (2023) was a much more personal album, with artwork by James Marsh. The trilogy was completed with "Beast" (2025).
September 3, 2025Sep 3 Not bad! His voice reminds me a bit of Ian McCulloch from Echo & The Bunnymen.....
September 3, 2025Sep 3 You had me at 'bleak'. ...but I kept reading...you had me again at 'dreampop'....but I still read all the way to the end. I will definitely be giving the whole trilogy a listen, if it's as good as the one track.
September 8, 2025Sep 8 That's going to require a two very sharp thumbs up animated gif. Also, the song is really good. Impossible to follow that up, so good a time as any to post my latest obsession -- “It’s a song about wanting to disappear, as in completely vanish and not make a big deal about it,”. Very sombre/bleak/dark/morose. It has no video. https://www.frontview-magazine.be/en/news/skold-pop-the-smoke-new-single-by-swedish-industrial-rock-musician-out-1st-august-2025
September 8, 2025Sep 8 With the passage of Rick Davies, I am reminded of one of my favorite mashups of all time. Mashups are invariably novelty tracks, and many (most) of them try too hard and don't really gel properly. Once a great while, one comes along where the whole is is greater than the sum of its parts (like a really good remix.) In 2006, the artist Arty Fufkin combined Gnarls Barkley, Supertramp and Rockwell. It's been in my record back in one form ever since.
September 9, 2025Sep 9 IMO this is right up there with Lee Hazlewood/Nancy Sinatra's "Some Velvet Morning" and "Summer Wine" and Nick Cave/Kylie Minogue's "Where the Wild Roses Grow". Hearing her sing her part ultra high over his almost-talking drawl is the perfect representation of the siren call.
