Logged out of HC front page?

Featured Replies

Got an interesting issue here.

When I navigate to the head-case.org front page my browser (chorme) always thinks that I am logged out. I can't get to my PM's from the front page without logging back in.

What is strange is that even I show up as logged out on the front page, once I drill down to a specific thread or sub-forum I show up as logged in.

I've tried clearing cookies and it doesn't seem to solve the issue.

I also meant to put this in the existing "Keep getting logged out of HC" thread but I can't post a reply there. Do I need elevated privileges to respond to threads in the "Suggestions" sub-forum?

Thanks!

I just tried it and on linux and chrome, I can check pms from the front page.  Not sure where the issue is, do you have a cookie blocker maybe...

Why would you use the front page anyway?

I get logged out of HC every once in a while.  Recently, I was logged at of two computer and my ipad, all on one day.

Two seems to be the limit.  If you log in to a third device / browser, you get logged out of everything else, but if you log back in only on one, it's fine again.

For example, when work blocked me the other week, I logged in via phone. When I got home, I had to log in to my computer again.  But as long as I don't log in anywhere else -- including Tapatalk on the same phone -- I'm fine.

Is that your issue, or does it seem to be something else?

It also might be a cache problem or a blocker setting problem, as others have suggested. Try forcing a reload. (E.g. ctl-shift-R)

Switching between devices seems to trigger it more than anything.  Not really sure on a solution currently.

Yes, I've noticed this when login on Chrome from different computers, but it doesn't seem to affect on Tapatalk.

I sometimes experiences to be logged out when changing to the homepage of Head-Case, if I then change into a sub section I appeare logged on again

I was just logged out of Safari on my laptop, also. Don't think I added any extra devices, and I've just been logged into HC from mobile Safari on my phone. There might be a cookie or local storage expiration issue..? I have "remember me" turned on whenever I re-log in.

Having experienced being repeatedly logged out, I think I've found what the problem may be, at least for some. The site only wants to log in while on https, for me, but the header link, and possibly other links elsewhere, go to normal http and lead to the appearance of not being logged in anymore. In the limited testing I've done tonight, manually going to the address bar and making it https fixes it.

Even mid-post just now I've tested it. Click the head-case banner in a new tab, I show as not logged in. Add https:// on the address bar in that new tab, then I am logged in.

you might experience the same from a simple Refresh ...

I had HC set as my chrome startup page but when I changed that today I stopped getting logged out.  Maybe a coincidence, we'll see.
