March 28, 20251 yr comment_954306 The Audio Research 610T, which is what they are, 800W each idling power. So 1.6kW of heat going into the room. Made from 2005 to ? Now replaced by the not dissimilar 750SEL monoblocks. A bit like Rolls Royce - if you need to know the price, you can't afford one. But if you need to know, a hair under $100k a pair Report
April 19, 20251 yr comment_955314 Um - where's the speakers? Not the bijou bookshelf ones, surely. Report
May 2, 20251 yr comment_955791 Some trumpet player or other with his home hi-fi (I'm not sure it was stereo) in the late 1960s. Photo most likely taken by Jack Bradley. I'd love to know the identity of the trombone player. Google has, and I want to be clear about this, utterly fucking useless in this regard. Report
May 2, 20251 yr comment_955793 Well the first two color images had to be taken after 1970 as the album pictured in those two, Swingin’ the Louis Armstrong SongBook by Swing Society with Nannie Porres, was recorded in 1970. Anyway, John Thomas also played trombone with the Louis Armstrong band after replacing Kid Ory and was playing on tour with Armstrong in the 60s. Edited May 2, 20251 yr by morphsci Report
May 2, 20251 yr comment_955796 A commenter on Imgur thought the trombonist was Tyree Glenn as well. Also the system was stereo and was set up to record. It was installed at the request of Lucille Wilson while Satch was in the hospital. https://virtualexhibits.louisarmstronghouse.org/2020/07/31/louis-armstrongs-1969-1971-tapes-reels-1-5/ Report

May 23, 20251 yr comment_956697 Couple "Holy Shitballs" pics. Gryphon Statement amp, the smaller sibling Gryphon Diablo integrated amp was how I got one of my cats' names (Diablo was his middle name). And a throw in: "are those speaker cables or are you REALLY happy to see me?" Edited May 23, 20251 yr by skullguise Report

June 26, 20251 yr comment_958104 We had a drooly cat who used to sleep on the amps. Every now and again I had to take the perforated covers off and wipe of the dried drool. Long gone alas - she got to a decrepit 19 and we had to say goodbye. In her heyday she was the scourge of the rodent population, including a family of rats that had defeated every other way of killing them. Report

August 20, 20251 yr comment_960215 Here, or speaker porn? The ostentatious aesthetic of the amps wins out, I think. Report
August 20, 20251 yr comment_960216 Looks like they need Milo & Otis to make new amp stands, but the amps are sure shinny. Report
August 21, 20251 yr comment_960236 D'Agostino Relentless. The mono power amps are $£Euro (all about the same these days) half a million for the pair. Each unit weighs a quarter ton - so half a ton for the pair. I have absolutely no idea how they are removed from the pallets. Or what safety requirements are for floor loading. Report
