  • Turns out the damage was a bit more severe than a bad cable. They could still be repaired for less than the cost of a new pair, but not enough less that it seemed worth it. So new Etys are on the way.

  • That's because you're supposed to put them in your ears!

  • So the LCD3 Zebrawood showed back up tonight and I think I just bought a pair. Rob, you get the LCD5 and we'll compare and see if they're worth it, kay?

Guess we'll have to wait for Tyll's measurements.

That's a great deal.

At least Amazon plainly states that the regular price is $99 after a year.

It really pisses me off when I have to hunt or beg for that info when I join at an intro price!

Just a reminder Amazon Prime now allows Instant Video downloads on mobile. Grab Listen Up Philip for that next flight.

And I just paid for my renewal a couple months ago.

if it makes you feel any better, the deal wouldn't have worked if you were a current Prime member.

They (and by 'they', I don't just mean Amazon) really need to quit being dicks to current customers.  Repeat business should be treated the same as new business.  I managed to convince at least one magazine of that back in the 90s.

At that rate seems the revolution is close to winning. ;)

But don't you think that at least part of the reasons customers leave is so that they can get the first-time buyers' deals?  It's a viscous loop.

So they're just making work for themselves, which increases overhead, which increases costs, which they have to, in turn, forward to the customer.  Companies just can't afford to be bureaucracies in this market any more.

Being a bureaucracy is cheap, in the computer age.

No it's not.  If you have to have human intervention for every time someone tries to negotiate a special deal or do anything outside of what's allowed, you have to pay the person on the other end of the line for their time.

I really need to become a hermit.

That's still a discount, which is ... something, but ... there should be a $10 (or $6) manufacturer discount and free shipping, are you seeing that?  The prices before the discount are $94.49 and $56.49, seems like you're not seeing those prices, are you?  Maybe they're regional.  Also, are you logged in?

Okay, logged in and saw the etxra 5% off.  Thanks.
