I've never figured out a way to like PJ. If I were to try again, what should I listen to?

No idea Al, this is the first PJ album I'm listening to in my life. I'm kind of surprised since I was expecting something more like Joanna Newsom or Regina, but is more like Chrissie Hynde on premenstrual anger, but without any commercial concessions ala Alanis. According to AMG this is the album to start with Let's see what her fans have to say

Thanks for the suggestions Dusty. Despite her very aggressive style, there's something in her music -at least yesterday night under the influence of some ethanol- which I found interesting enough for more investigation. We'll see.

I think PJ's most accessible and strongest is Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea. The best balance to my ears.

Thanks Ian, will try later. Listened to Dry. Still aggressive in a different way than Ani DiFranco, but interesting, still not sure why. I'm not specially fond of raged music.

Miles Davis -- Bitches Brew 40th Anniversary

So far, I have listened to the original album and now the Tanglewood concert on CD. Awesome, and I have yet to play the vinyl version, which is really where it's at.

Mahler 2 - Bernstein NY Philharmonic

Probably worth finding this on vinyl, a nice recording it is.

I am a fan of Mahler 2, and sometimes enjoy Bernstein. Actually don't think I've heard his Mahler 2, though I may have just forgot. Will check out.

Just got back from a lesson that wasn't terrible but could have gone a lot better. Gonna go practice a few hours to make up for it.

Yello by Yello, The Anthology -- resuming this. I think I may have to jack these guys up to my Top X Favorite Artists list.

Listened to PJ Harvey's "is this desire?" and "Stories from the City Stories from the Sea". Found both more accessible, at times more like Patti Smith. PJ is interesting nonetheless, will have to pay more listens.
