What would be the best XLR cable for the money

Featured Replies

I am waiting for my new source, which I am willing to use through balanced way, so which one would be the best choice for the money please.

Budget no more than USD 100, for a pair of course.

That's a pretty tight budget for anything other than pretty basic balanced cables. I'd have a look at Blue Jeans Cables and see what they can do for you, in that price bracket they're pretty hard to beat and some would argue that spending more than that isn't buying you anything.

Thanks guys, but how about Cardas Crosslink from MoonAudio? I bought an Dh Labs Custom BL-1 Interconnects rca from Drew time ago, but not sure if this one would be the one, so maybe Cardas:confused:

I really like DH LABS, gives all detail, speed, clarity, while Cardas is a bit warmer, I guess...

At the moment not less than 90 cm, dont have enough space to make it more compact, so this is it. Normaly it could be like 50 cm only...

How long do said cables need to be?

I have a pair of Oracle2 XLR cables (silver alloy)... they are 1m long. I used them in my system for some time but no longer need them. They would normally be $205 but you can have them for $100 if you like.

Other then that I would pick up a pair of Blue Jeans XLRs and forget the others at that price point.

If I were to use a balanced XLR output to use RCA wires to feed a SE amp-preamp input, I'd get one of these Very affordable and keeping one of the advantages of balanced operation which is keeping common noise rejected.

However if you're looking for XLR wires, good and affordable, then my suggestion would be a pair of Van den Hul D102 balanced. Nice wires for the money. Moreover I have a contact in Holland who can sell them at very good prices.

There's also monoprice if you want to go really cheap, but still have some quality.

A friend of mine bought some Monoprice XLRs and found their connectors to be enough out of spec that connecting them (and, more to the point, disconnecting them) feels like the XLR jack is going to be torn out. imagine the Monster Cable RCA Cable Grip of Death phenomenon, but with XLRs.

I have a pair of perfectly acceptable monoprice XLRs. They do have something of a tight grip, though, I'll admit. If I were to do it again on the cheap, I'd go Blue Jeans. As it is, I'll keep them until I find a stellar deal on something better.

I have the DiMarzzio interconnects from Headroom they do the trick and are pretty nice.

This guy makes very good cables at reasonable prices. I bought a SE headphone extension cable from him a while back. I haven't heard his XLRs, but I've considered buying them. He's got an auction for a set of seven 2M XLR cables for $135. I'm sure if you don't need 7, he'll sell you less.

I've got a pair of signal cable silver resolution XLR's that are yours if you want them for $100USD + whatever shipping costs me through whatever method you prefer. Let me know if you want them.

I'm very soon to be in the same boat, so thanks for bringing up this thread and the suggestions.

Just would like to thank everyone for their imput/advice, thanks guys...

Make my mind and bought Van den Hul D102III Hybrid XLR cable. The deal was good and I just took it.

THX.

I got the pair from John (heels-6) on eBay. Pretty nice cables, shipping was super fast.

I got a pair of XLR cables from NoisyCircuits.com

aprrox. $22 for a pair plus shipping. I've been using them and hear no problems with it, but then again, these are my first balanced cables anyway. They are Mogami 2534 though, and I was in the market for those.

About the cables I ordered from noisycircuits.com: I wanted a red pair, but in real life they are closer to hot pink than red. So, don't make fun of my cables when you guys see them, mmkay? Thanks.

I will probably order blue ones next, or yellow. Anything but black. Too much black already.
