Ah - the good old battleship grey Cambridge Audio livery. It was panned by the reviewers, as were the buttons on the CD player (they described them as reminiscent of poking dead flesh). Very unfair, b

These are Hawthorne Silver Iris 15 open baffle speaker, that I purchased by their probably second or third owner in 2016. They come with a 15 inch woofers, a coaxial tweeter, and crossover, and the guy I bought it from built some baffles out of MDF that I painted last year. I drove to his house at night, then to a storage facility, and he didn't murder me....

Anyway, I've posted pictures of these before, but they were on the ground, where the tweeter isn't at ear level. Last weekend I was shuffling the room around and noticed that they fit perfectly in my steel wire shelves from the Home Depot, so I adjusted them to reach my ears.

I've noticed that they have less bass in this position, which is also less boomy. I haven't noticed much change in the treble even with change in height though. They are still slanted backwards by about 30 degrees, so I might get some foam blocks to try to change their angle.

I found Rammstein at Madison Square Garden in 2010 on Amazon Prime, so I was listening to that.

The signal goes to a blue Loxjie D10 via Toslink then to a Chinesium Nobsound 12AX7 12AU7 Vacuum Tube pre amp, then to switch you barely see to go between various power amplifers, and then to a Dynaco ST-70 power amp.

I have a pair of Bose 901s being powered by some Crown XLi 1500 bridged not playing at this time.

The two turntables are a Technics SL-1200 MK2 (which I'm told doesn't come in black), as well as a Heyday Turntable from Target (just to test it out). There's a dual 12XA7 phono preamp behind the TV somewhere which a switchable input that I got from a guy at Greater NY Audiokarma Meetup last year.

YAMAHA Aventage, CXA5000 & MXA5000 separates. Mostly used for Music. Fell in love with ML the moment I heard music on them. Originally had their entry level speakers & eventually got the Montis & Stage X off of Audiogon from a gentleman in MS. 15hr round trip but worth it. Setup is about 2 years old. Subs accompany the speakers very nicely. Mostly listen via CD's played on an Oppo 203 & streaming via Tidal.

I always wanted a dedicated 2 channel audio room and I’ve finally reached that goal. I recently inherited a set of old BMW Matrix 893 S2’s and a McIntosh MA6500 from a neighbor (long story) and I’ve been enjoying this setup in it’s late 90’s glory. The Krell gear pictured isn’t currently in use but is my equipment that I’ve had for 15+ years.

I love how my system sounds. Fast, punchy and crystal clear highs. Before the Jade 5s I had the pleasure of the smaller Diamond 240's, which honestly was a steal for the money. The Jade do bring it up to another level I must admit. Instrumental seperation, speed and the lower frequency band is much better imaged on these. A wonderful loudspeaker.

I bought these speakers before moving and had them in quite a small room where I could definitely tell they needed more space, the whole lower spectrum was just gone. My now bigger living room helped a lot and the carpet did a lot for acoustics. I still wanna try to play around with some acoustic panels in the future.

Setup:
Cambridge CXN V2 pre/streamer
Acoustic Reality 1001ref monoblocks
Wharfedale Jade 5s
Pro-ject Essential 3
Pro-ject Optical Box E
