Sounded wonderful warm & vinyl-like when auditioned :ian: - listened with a NOS-DAC CD-player as source (got the info today after calling him up).

OTL with my Grados? Rather an impulse buy than a choice made out of reason... ::)

Here you go: Light, OTL amp, and Grados.

I second this. While DACs do have different "sounds", the real difference to me is resolution. The more resolving/revealing/detailed, the better. The amp (and more importantly the transducer) should do the job of presenting those details in a way you find pleasing.

easiest way to do it would be to just plug the cables straight into your head

If you are going to do this might as well go balanced. 4-pin XLR too, avoids the hassle of two 3-pins.

You're all wrong, its all in the cables.

...and the fuses. If you insert them in the right direction.

This thread inspired me to check out the "NOS is BS" thread on HF... Big, big mistake... :palm:

Yes, I've been reading that one as well... :palm:

Just saw the head-fi thread about NOS DACs - interesting.

Hey - when there

I've not had the chance to hear other contenders so no idea how it compares but a used apogee mini-dac fits in that price range (with or without usb).
