Saw Sarah McLachlan and Feist last night at Red Rocks.   Amazing!

  • First indoor show since covid -- Jeff Tweedy at the Fillmore. He's added another son on backing vocals in addition to the drummer.  We also found the poster for the show we saw 20 days befo

  • The stage is cloaked in mystery, or at least a red fog, before the Stromae concert begins. Here with Claire, Sophie and her gf Ella.

I was fortunate to finally see Gary Clark Jr on his own vs a multi-band format (jam off type things).  So impressive and the venue was intimate enough to really see him do his stuff.

He had Grace Bowers & Hodge Podge open.  Hard to believe the lady is now only 18...just wow.

Best show I've seen in a good while.

On this past Sunday we saw Kodo during their tour and they were incredible. Taiko drums in a symphony hall are something else.

How can they decently play any instrument on their knees? The left hand wrist posture is absolutely unwearable.

Mmm...that Prelude in C-sharp Minor is a personal favourite.  I hope it was good.

It was.

Time to rewatch Brief Encounter.

HBO/Max has the Criterion Collection BFI restoration.

There are so many no-nos at the bottom that I'm kind of surprised they actually let people in.

We finally got to see a local band that hadn't played local in a couple of years or so after they grew quite popular.  Khruangbin...very eclectic, groovy music.  Great show.

Helado Negro opened.  Pretty cool act I was not aware of previously.

Got to see my favorite band the Chameleons once again.  Met up with a few elderly folks like myself, and our conversations were focused around our ailments as old-folks-discussion SHOULD be! 😄

The band were also wrapped in dark Goth bands - they were the 3rd of 4 bands.  I don't mind a little bit, but even the two opening bands got to be too much for me.  After the Chameleons played, I went home; the headliner (Twin Tribes) are VERY Goth and not what I cared to hear.

I e-chatted with one of the other cranky old people yesterday, and he and I agreed that the sound and the band's performance was not quite as good as it has been in the past.  But I also watched the set with another couple, and while we agreed the sound wasn't the best we just let loose and thoroughly enjoyed the show.  Hit the "fuck I needed this" spot after a bunch of crazy work weeks.

Also got to meet someone I've known through FB; s/he (she is transitioning to he) was running the merch table.  So despite not being perfect, was a great time and just what the doctor of sanity ordered!
