HemiSam Posted March 2 Report Posted March 2 I was fortunate to finally see Gary Clark Jr on his own vs a multi-band format (jam off type things). So impressive and the venue was intimate enough to really see him do his stuff. He had Grace Bowers & Hodge Podge open. Hard to believe the lady is now only 18...just wow. Best show I've seen in a good while. HS 6
Emooze Posted March 15 Report Posted March 15 On this past Sunday we saw Kodo during their tour and they were incredible. Taiko drums in a symphony hall are something else. 3
Torpedo Posted March 23 Report Posted March 23 How can they decently play any instrument on their knees? The left hand wrist posture is absolutely unwearable.

Dusty Chalk Posted April 6 Report Posted April 6 Mmm...that Prelude in C-sharp Minor is a personal favourite. I hope it was good.

HemiSam Posted April 13 Report Posted April 13 We finally got to see a local band that hadn't played local in a couple of years or so after they grew quite popular. Khruangbin...very eclectic, groovy music. Great show. Helado Negro opened. Pretty cool act I was not aware of previously. HS 6
grawk Posted April 13 Report Posted April 13 I’d love to see Khruangbin. The songs I’ve heard of theirs are good. 1

Grahame Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 The Illegals https://www.townofrossca.gov/recreation/page/live-common-april-25-2025 The illegals in Ross are a eagles cover band, not the help. They may want to change their name in light of recent enforcement. They did play hotel California, however. 1
Grahame Posted April 27 Report Posted April 27 Tonight's Culture https://pa.marin.edu/blog/music-marin-chamber-players-forced-flee Educational, where we learned about the irony of fleeing Nazi Germany only to be later denounced to the house committee on Un-American activities because you were the wrong kind of anti-fascist. skullguise Posted May 1 Report Posted May 1 (edited) Got to see my favorite band the Chameleons once again. Met up with a few elderly folks like myself, and our conversations were focused around our ailments as old-folks-discussion SHOULD be! 😄 The band were also wrapped in dark Goth bands - they were the 3rd of 4 bands. I don't mind a little bit, but even the two opening bands got to be too much for me. After the Chameleons played, I went home; the headliner (Twin Tribes) are VERY Goth and not what I cared to hear. I e-chatted with one of the other cranky old people yesterday, and he and I agreed that the sound and the band's performance was not quite as good as it has been in the past. But I also watched the set with another couple, and while we agreed the sound wasn't the best we just let loose and thoroughly enjoyed the show. Hit the "fuck I needed this" spot after a bunch of crazy work weeks. Also got to meet someone I've known through FB; s/he (she is transitioning to he) was running the merch table. So despite not being perfect, was a great time and just what the doctor of sanity ordered! Edited May 1 by skullguise 3
