Shit, Mikey. I've read a few stories about grease fires but that's pretty extreme. Do you think it was just from the belly or was there some built up grease from the grill/smoker not draining properly or something? Regardless of root cause, that sucks.

Ok, I really like the Royer SF-12 - just need gain. Currently using a MH ULN-2 with 3D card. Now I need to do the recording bit, any suggestions? I assume I will not be able to record directly off the digital outputs at a reasonable price point, so would something like a mixpre-3 ii be a reasonable choice? I suppose I could just use a laptop as well but keeping it small, battery powered and transportable would be handy.

Before I start working topside, I have a question about the onboard regulator vs the AMB. I have both, and given the ability to get it attached, which is preferred? Is it better to just use the AMB and get the heat off the board?

So I wanted some new year pork belly... Loaded up the grilla with three chunks. At about 9pm last night they were hovering around 180 degrees. I was going to give it another hour and give it a check. Well I had walked out to a grease fire happening. Pulled the pork (what was left of it) and put out the small fire. Some cosmetic damage: and three pork briquettes. The middle one might have some salvable pork on the inside. I will deal with that later. I need to clean everything up because I have a slab of salmon to smoke up. Happy New Year! 🥳

Somewhat ironic - since I'm not in the UK, your post is showing me exactly the same amplifier picture I posted earlier :). I see the problem though and I think it's been brough up before in this forum. I was hoping for Imgur to resolve this, but if it persists and/or spreads I might look for another image host.

personally I set my vpn tunnel location to the USA and then I can see the images... at least until the uk makes vpn tunnels illegal...

As soon as you guys start using IMGUR, we cannot see content in the UK. This is because the UK on-line regulator OFCOM is suing IMGUR as a result of lack of assurance regarding harmful content to minors (AKA under 18!). IMGUR has responded by simply showing a blue screen with "Content not viewable in your region" in large letters.
