Feliks Audio Bliss - so much stupidity...
kevin gilmore replied to spritzer's topic in Headphone Amplification
speaking of fucked, here is the latest highend.de stupidity. tube current source added to antares v3.5 board. 6sn7 has a max cathode to filament voltage of +/-100v which means that anything over 400vppss at the output is slowly destroying the current source tube. god damm how hard is it to read the 6sn7 datasheet. even worse the filaments of both current source tubes tied to the same transformer winding. sure does not look like srpp. how fucking stupid is this idiot. edit: this may have been done by someone else using the highend.de board. -

RIP to the 8 people in Tumbler Ridge, Canada, victims of a mass shooting

RIP to Actors Bud Cort & James Van Der Beek..... Bud Cort was of course Harold in Harold & Maude, he did several other prominent roles but will likely be remembered mostly for H&M. One other movie I liked was Electric Dreams; he played the voice of the computer (and that's also where I fell in love with Virginia Madsen).

A Memento Mori for Skye was going to cost $450, so I went to Michaels, got a DIY kit, and did that myself this morning. Then I took her up to animal control and "relinquished" her body to be communally cremated.

I've mentioned Martin Sturtzer on H-C many times over the years. He is a German ambient artist who lives in Wuppertal, Germany (home to the coolest tramway in the world.) He has an impressive synth collection and the single best behaved synth kitty I have seen in my life. He is not happy. Also, Spotify sucks balls. -

Putting this here, because I live under the delusion that I will some day get through the "Check out this music (fuck VEVO)" thread. As I mentioned elsewhere, a DJ I knew for over 25 years died recently. Periodically, he'd send me a link to a remix he thought I might like. I used Faecesbook's "see friendship" and found a few of them yesterday. Maneater needs no introduction. It's a summation of early 80s synth pop to a T. It's infectious, over the top and will be stuck in your head for days. It's not an easy song to remix properly and do anything original. Certainly there are a legion of remixes out there, most significantly faster than the original's ~90 BPM. Flying White Dots went in the opposite direction, stripping out most of the original and making sparing use of sparse elements while dubbing the absolute fuck out of things. I have sneaked this remix into more than a couple downtempo sets over the years. On the other end of the energy spectrum, The Reflex Stems turn Lennon's diss track against McCartney (that is as much autobiographical as it is about Paul) into a nearly 10 minute epic. In spite of its length, there isn't too much wasted space here. The Reflex wisely left enough time before John's vocals come in to make it easy to work this remix into more conventional downtempo. For me, this is a great "late into the set" track. Both remixes exemplify Matt's ear for quality. I played both of them (unmixed) over my main sound system last night as a tribute. -
Five coasters and an outboard cup holder? It seems like you plan to have many drinks simultaneously while working at that desk. š³

No particular reason behind the jfets, aside I like the to-71 package and that itās fairly easy to build the layout around them SMD transistors because they are small. I had to decrease current at some locations to reduce heat. I see this amplifier merely as an experiment. I wanted to test if it was possible to make a small board. The bias servo is probably needed while moving from heatsinked MJExxx to small smd transistors. I believe the bias servo previously posted by Kevin, with dual op amps, is preferred. So, another experimental board⦠-

Hey guys, I havenāt posted here in a good while. Iām glad that the forum is still alive. š Does anyone have experience comparing the BHSE with KGST? I am kind of in the market for e-stat (specifically for the Audeze CRBN, Iām really surprised with how much I like them). I planned to order KGST from Birgir but a second hand BHSE popped up in our local market at around the same price. Not many e-stat gears are circulating around nowadays so I have no choice but to blind buy.

Thanks, that helps a lot. It's a Marantz M4U. It seems to work pretty well, though I think I'll eventually buy the Shure one you recommended. But will likely get a proper sound card first. (using the USB interface that came with the Marantz for now)

Just in case anyone else is interested, these Aperture The Photography Workbook Series (theyāre not really workbooks) are really nice. Softcover, but decent stock, solid printing and relaxed text by the photographers to inspire students. No longer sold on Aperture, but some available on Amazon and/or Barnes & Noble (and others), $19-29 each. Would recommend over most more expensive surveys. Still have Richard Misrachās and Mary Ellen Markās incoming.
