  1. Past hour
  2. Today
  3. Or just seeing how stupid our current leadership is (Murican, Russian, and British, mostly), and wondering how on earth it would even be possible to achieve orbit without blowing up the astronauts, the ground crew, and the entire Florida panhandle.
  4. I like the coffin-on-wheels looking one.
  5. That was recorded in 1982, when both singers were at the height of their vocal powers aged 38. Astonishingly both of them are now 80.
  6. Alternatively use the speakers to play this
  7. I always like the way that blown motors have cyclical surging.
  8. You know the old saying "No highs, no lows, must be Bose there's a cat on the speaker."
  9. Can you feel the heat?
  10. In Petaluma for the Salute to American Graffiti. Plenty of static displays prior to the cruise Even something for @Dusty Chalk And then the cruise began, and I can feel the planet warming up already.
  11. Yesterday
  12. That looks great! I did the same thing, using content aware healing and then fiddling with it, but I couldn't keep the lines nearly as straight. Thank you! If the book ever gets made (keep in mind I might have 5 made), you'll get an acknowledgment. Straight out of camera: I really love how the 28mm Summilux looks, wide open. Some people complain about the bokeh, but I think it's rather nice. Maybe not as dramatic as some lenses, but very sightly on reflections and light sources. The Leica jpeg processing is also pretty decent. I really love this little camera.
  13. This - and agreed. And I would not have been sad if he had just released them all on a double album. I find it all works well together for me. But that would be a lot of notes...
  14. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ol8lUMPigsDow7JJKE9NR0FnBjheBc89?usp=sharing Once you import this DNG into Lightroom, it should already contain the changes I've made embedded into the file. You can still edit further in PS, but this looks good to me. There is no scientific way to use the content-aware remove healing tool, just a lot of trial and error with the sizing and positioning.
  15. 20B octals 300b UX4 I got inspired from your Octal/UX4 pattern ;o)
  16. Emission Labs 20B and 300B, is that the 4 pins socket or the octal socket with center tap filament?
  17. To be fair I wanted to use CD only, but I can add this wonder to the comparison from 1973. šŸ˜ This is the best edition without a doubt but the vinyl depends greatly on the cartridge you use (you know that I'm a lover of the Denon Dl 103 and103R)
  18. I guess "original record" for Fragile means first CD edition, or would you be comparing the vinyl too? I'm not a big Yes fan, but I'd be interested in reading your thought about the different releases.
  19. Indeed. Damn, I actually thought I had figured something out
  20. If anybody with photoshop skills is willing, would you take a look at this photo? It's shot number one of the project. I can't retake it because they have subsequently fixed the sign. The photo was taken before I know there was crap on the sensor, so there is... crap on the sensor. I have Photoshopped it out as best I can, but I'm out of my depth. It's sort of worst case scenario: round junk over linear patterns. Attached is a zip with my .psp file after I touched it up and the DNG out of camera. I'll give you an acknowledgement in the book, if it ever gets made, if you were willing. Archive.zip
  21. Does anybody have any film projects in the works? Iā€™ll be moving to small town Kentucky, to Danville, specifically, within the next six months, and will be visiting a lot before I move. Itā€™s an historic town surrounded by sprawl. I want to document the storefronts and signs of the historic downtown with those of the sprawl that has grown around it. I envision having a few books made and sold at the local historical society gift shop (they sell lots of boutique local things, so I think itā€™ll be no issue having some Printique books there, just to share).
  22. Oh yeah the analog section. I am a Linn-head so it is hard not to go with the 40th anniversary (yeah it was 10 years ago), Linn Sondek LP12. But it came with an Highland Park 40yo - and the Plinth was made from HP cask staves Fully loaded with the upgrade bits and the Ekos Arm and Ekstatik cart: That would give me the Linn sound that I like, but to dig a bit deeper I would like to try the - Wilson-Benesch GMT One Turntable: Built around this piece of engineering art: I agree with you Steve on the LYRA Atlas SL Lambda - I heard the younger sibling of this, in a whisky friend's rig, and I was sold on the sound. And the mono version for mono reason (same pic.. ) For more swapping I have always liked the Grado sound as well -- so Grado Epoch3 And Mono of course - picture not included (yeah it looks the same). I would have to do a lot more research into the phono pre. But I would probably start out with something like the MANLEY STEELHEAD RC: Multi inputs - multi gain - multi load - tubes.. neet! ... and I agree with people that this is a bit of a farce. I am not going to own anything here. But I have also spent time with super high end systems and they are a wonderful experience. This is a hobby for me, listening that is, and with any hobby, you spend time, effort and money on them. A lot of chasing high end would be lost on me at this point in my life, unfortunately. My tinnitus has gotten really bad in the last year and a half. I have had a mild version of it since I was a late teen and I damaged my hearing making homemade horn loaded speakers that I put in my car! I still have really good listening skills and can pick out the minutest of details, I just have to turn things up a bit louder to get over my internal noise floor. Oh, and an Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman: For one - thank you very much - there is only one listening position. - Ever.
  23. If you are interested in this type of my madness... Yes Fragile: original record, remastered, HDCD and MOfy
  24. I don't have a dream system anymore. Maybe a dream room to put a decent system inside. What would I set up in that room? I don't know, I'd need to trial and error a lot of stuff. Nothing that's going to happen in this lifetime of mine. Nobody asked before being born. Meantime, attending live concerts in real venues should be enough.
  25. Thanks guys. Right now IĀ“m fine (or so my bllod marks say) but IĀ“m in a bad "journey". Sorry for my tear message. To keep my mind busy, I've been spending time reviewing some recordings, for example "Use Your Ilusion II" My favorite work by G nĀ“R. With darker/bohemian and more reflective themes. . Use your illusion II Original record 1991: I think it has a fairly balanced sound, it is the easiest to listen to for a long period of time. It doesn't have any outstanding qualities, but it doesn't suffer from any flaws either. . Use your illusion II Mofy: It has a more "pasty" sound, a bit exaggerated bass and midrange, and treble that in comparison is a little muted for my. In some songs this packaging is graceful but sometimes everything sounds very tangled. At the time I spent ā‚¬200 on this edition. Beyond its aura of exclusive/limited product, I wouldn't spend them today . Use Your Illusion II EdiciĆ³n Deluxe: A more modern mix, they have removed some noise and improved the stereo effect of the original a bit. The treble is not as high as in the original version. In general they have respected the original recording quite a bit. I've especially noticed Axl's voice, which is usually quite aggressive at times, and Slash and Izzy's guitars (still present on some songs). For about 30 bucks, the deluxe edition seems like a great purchase to me.
  26. My condolences Jose. Wishing you well on your recovery.
