Anyone know how much Stax 4070's are in the US? I'm just wondering how much of a difference there is between the US price and getting a pair imported through PriceJapan.

Hi This is my first post, I would appreciate opinions on why I have this issue. The link below is the Stax energizer using Lundahl PP TX that I built with a pro-bias circuit. The only change was I didn't use the Lundahl power transformer or the oil caps, I used a magnetically shielded toroid TX mounted on top of the cabinet and poly caps, I also installed the 4m700k resistor after the last cap. I have two STAX energizers that need to be recapped & rebiased. Would someone please recommend a tech in the US who could do this work for a reasonable price?

Hi was wondering if anyone can give me some advice? I have a pair of Stax Gamma Pro and SRD7SB that I have had for many years, but have not used them for a long time as the thin diaphrams of the Gammas Developed holes in many years ago reducing the volume and freqency response (I had a look inside). Also the headband if broken. I have recently found out after after all these years doing some research that this was the wrong type of adaptor for these Gamma Pros, - the SRD7SB being a "NORMAL" type 6 pin adapter and the Gamma Pros being a "PRO" type 5 pin connection which require different bias voltages. Anyone tried the L700 with any of the KGSSHV/KGST/BHSE amps? Wonder if it will sound moar awesome as compared to just driving them with a Stax amp..

I have the L700 MkII and I find the headband pressure too high. I wonder if the original L700 headband would lessen the pressure as the “arm” of the forks are a straight construction without the bend at the bottom in the MkII model. Any “swithers” between the too models heamdband ?

I have a question about how to fit the headphones. The Lambda pros that I have are wired with the wide part of the cup facing the front, while the 500 MK 11 is wired with the wide section facing the rear. Is this correct? Did they change the way the phones fire toward the ear? Donald

The Stax Omega 2's are headphones I've been interested in for a long time, and lately I've been getting the urge to buy a pair. Thanks to pricejapan a new pair would only cost about $1500 which is far cheaper they are from US Stax dealers. A few things are holding me back from pulling the trigger: 1) I'm perfectly happy with my current L3000 based rig, at most an O2 rig would be complimentary 2) The reported lack of bass impact compared to dynamic phones has always been a concern. I'd like to hear peoples opinions on the O2's and any comparisons to your favorite dynamic phones would be very helpful.

I will ask this here... Where is the best place to purchase these. Best price with warranty or just the best price. Are these so reliable that you need not concern yourself with the warranty? As an alternative I am thinking about the "Stax srm-t1w stax tube amp/headphones" what price would be reasonable for this set? Thanks

Hello I am new to this forum and require a repair on my STAX Omegas. The right channel has begun cutting out when I move my head. It is intermittent. It is not amp related as I have tried them with more than one amp. Can anyone recommend someone based in the UK who could do a repair. Many thanks.

Can someone give me an idea on what a fair price to ask for SR 007 MK2 Serial SZ3. Sadly my hearing just doesn't do justice to them anymore so want to sell. They are still in mint condition with little use probably 200 hours and with carrying case and documentation. They are about 4-6 years old and have been stored in their box when not in use. hi all, i am a new owner of a lambda SR. i found it cheap on craigslist, was not expecting to see one, went and snatched it up for cheap. it looks fairly dirty on the inside and i have been looking at some guides where people describe cleaning lambdas but the process is a bit intimidating... it looks like there is a lot of dirt inside. i wasn't aware dirt was so hard to clean off of them before i bought them, and there are 2 visible specks of dirt on the left driver on the inside. that driver usually buzzes a bit, sometimes not too bad but sometimes a bit louder. when you look down into the driver housings you can see lots of dirt that looks nasty and gross. i am using a …

I have a pair of Stax SR Omega headphones (serial number 00199). These are still the best headphones I have ever heard. This is an old set which has stood the test of time. I continue to use them as a reference during my mixes. The head bow broke in two places near the top and middle. From a factory authorized repair shop I purchased the last head bow they had two years ago. They came from another model. I need to find a suitable replacement. I am not afraid to make modifications to the support system. Any Ideas?

I've bought a new SR-003 in eBay and when I connect them to the Pro bias connector of a modified SRD-7 can listen to a small noise in the right channel, it is a small "backfire", as if the earphones were throwing a long fart. Hi all, I have a pair of Stax SR-007 e-stats - a 007 Mk 1 (s/n 71169) for which I made a new pair of diaphragms last year (long story, will make another post just about that here on HC soon) and a 007A (s/n SZ2-1636). In the last few days I've been noticing that the pair of metal arcs on the head assembly of my 007 Mk 1 makes a slight ringing sound transmitted to the drivers when I move my head, especially when these arcs are touching the headband. I don't recall them doing that before, but maybe I just wasn't paying attention. This ringing sound disappears if I either touch the arcs with my hand or reposition the unit so that the arcs no longer touch the headband. H…

Since this post would get lost in the ever growing Stax thread I'll post it here. If you damage your expensive phones doing this it's your own fault so don't come running to me. Be very careful with any tools this close to the drivers as one slip can destroy them. You have been warned!!! All you need to do this mod is some blutack, a screwdriver and the patience of a saint to get the damn pads on again. First job if to remove the earpads by simply pulling onto the top edge and they come off. Also remove the spring underneath as it will only be in the way. Simply pull it out of the rubber grommet. Hello I bought pair of SR-3 year ago. I knew they had failure, left driver was quiet, right driver was only little louder. After year I've decided to give them new life this spring. At the first I've discovered holes in diaphragm of the left driver as you can see in the picture. I decided to use 2um mylar to make new diaphragm for both drivers and self made coating with some antistatic spray+isopropanol. Now I am sitting with them and writing this post, they sound great, with good bass, with sweet and not sharp highs.

The SR-80 was originally bundled with the SRD-4 (Electret Adaptor). Can the Electret phones only be connected to a SRD-4 or to any adaptor/amp? The reason I ask is because I have a SRD 6 / SR-5 combo and and would like to add a SR-80 to it.
