Tomorrow starting at approximately 9PM EST I will be performing a major upgrade of the forum software. The new version is a complete rewrite of the forum software from the ground up, so there are many, many changes to it. Due to this the upgrade itself will possibly take several hours during which time the forums will be inaccessible. Once the upgrade is done there are several background tasks that must finish to restore fully functionality of the site. These tasks could take anywhere from 24-48 hours to complete. I think the site has hit a point where it's growing at a fairly steady rate and I'm starting to plan ahead for future growth and additional features. Finally added one of the more common requests I get - a dark theme - hit the "change theme" link at the bottom of the page and choose the "Infinite Dark" option. After changing the theme if you look at the little button next to the "gallery" button at the top you can change the color to your liking.

I upgraded the forum software today from 3.2.3 to 3.3.1 it's a pretty substantial upgrade so you might notice some of the extra features are currently disabled. I'll be turning things back on one at time and upgrading them when necessary. I also need to upgrade the dark theme so that likely doesn't work right now.

Due some recent issues with the vBulletin software (the double post problem for example) and the general direction I see the software headed in (off a cliff). I've made the decision to switch to IPB Community & Forum Software - Invision Power Services, Inc.. Now for the good news, just about every feature currently available will be available with the new software. Existing links will continue to work, the links will change but old links will get re-directed to the new link. The update to 4.0.8 didn't go smoothly today, the styling on the bottom section (who's online) etc is currently broken. Working on fixing it now, PM me if you notice anything else wrong.

I moved the site over to it's new server tonight, total downtime was roughly an hour or so. I still have to re-link the user albums and there might be some issues with old attachments but I'm working on that. Otherwise everything else should be working ok, let me know if you find anything that's not.

I upgraded the forums to vBulletin 3.8 today please let me know if you find any problems.

I added a new theme today, it's called "Uniform" and you can switch to it by clicking the Change Theme link on the bottom left of the page. Let me know how you guys like it. It has several options for background images/color choices which you can see by clicking the "Background Image" icon that's right next to the view new content link near the top right.

Doing some work on the site today so there will be periods where it's down. Edit: Server move and forum software update have been completed now. The search index has to re-index so it'll be a few hours before that's working normally again.

I'll be doing an update to the forum software starting at approximately 4PM EST today. This is a pretty large change, as search is completely redone and the traditional view new content functionality has been replaced as well. Other notable changes include the menu structure and an updated version of the WYSIWYG editor that should work better on mobile browsers.

I did some maintenance to the server today, that included some DNS changes. If you see the following in your browsers address bar: http://72.18.146.20/ then either your ISP or your computer is caching the old DNS entries. If your running Windows try opening up a command window and running ipconfig/flushdns and that should clear out any cached dns entries. If that doesn't work you may have to reboot your computer.

The infinite dark theme will be going away shortly, the dev has already announced it won't be updated to support the upcoming major new version of the forum software. It won't be removed until I find a suitable replacement that will be updated to support the next forum software version.

The site will be down for an extended period of time (at least a few hours) sometime during the following time frame: Friday, February 9, 2007 9:00pm - 5:00am MST. Our hosting provider is moving into a new data center facility and will be physically moving the server at some point during the previously listed time frame.

Ok guys, we have a small decision to make here, for some reason during the day today something went wrong in the database that broke the user-readable url functionality. I've been able to switch to a backup from roughly 7am this morning. Which means we've lost all posts from later in the day.

There will be a bit of downtime tonight as I install a few new features and change a few things around. Yeah yeah I know it's such a pain in the ass for you guys but you'll live . Plus it'll be better in the long run for Headcase.

Rather than ban users, I think a nice topic to keep track of who's being an asshat is appropriate.
