  1. What is this with all these girls growing up here?! Me: temple today, Jewish High Holiday of Yom Kippur. Saw our old "Cantorial Soloist" who was pushed out of our temple - we no longer belong there, and saw her at another temple in Haj's neck of the woods. Such a beautiful person, full of passion and with a lovely voice. Going to break the fast at a friend's house in town, they throw a nice party every year.

  2. All day on the road driving mostly through rain. The few times the sun peaked through I was rewarded with an eye popping color cacophony. Arrived at the "resort" for my week of ruffed grouse and American woodcock hunting. The weather forecast this morning called for rain today (more than fulfilled), snow tomorrow and afternoon showers on Monday. At this point Tuesday thru Thursday looks like a good stretch of weather, so I'm optimistic. Internet service could be better but at least I can get on. Nitro seems afraid I might leave him as he is literally plastered to the my leg no matter where I go ... in cabin or out. Can't wait to get him out and see how he is progressing. I'm really missing Quest who I is retired from bird hunting. He and I always had a special connection that Nitro and I have never had. This cabin seems nicer than the one I stayed in last year. Updating is more current and even the appliances seem more modern. Time to finish getting settled and break open the scotch.

  4. I'm fairly certain this is what happened. They've been sitting on a high shelf unused for a few weeks. Is there anything I can do about dust/dirt other than send them in for servicing? The 9s seem quite a bit more difficult to take apart than the 7s. UPDATE: Testing the dust theory, I unplugged them and sprayed some compressed air at the offending driver. Problem solved, I think. The squeal is gone.

  6. I don't blame the Nats manager for pulling Zimmerman for his closer. That is a totally defensible move that just happened to backfire. I do, however blame him and Cabrera for getting themselves tossed arguing balls and strikes. What a stupid and selfish thing to do. They let their emotions get the better of them and they absolutely hurt their teams chances of winning. Especially Cabrera. He took a power bat out of the lineup. Bochy time and again had the Giants pitch around other Nats to go after Cabrera's light hitting replacement. What an absolute mistake. Never mind the fact that the pitch tracker showed they were strikes anyways. Even if the pitches were way outside, you have to keep your head and keep yourselves in the game there.

  7. Well if you want something simple and fast i would definately give Elementary os a try, it has an Ubuntu base without all the bloat. It's based on 12.04 so it will be supported till 2017 and a new version based on 14.04 is already in beta. It even has a dock like osx so the transition will also be very easy i think. I have allot of friends and relatives running this and i NEVER get support calls, and yes they haven't switched to something else yet haha Check it out: http://www.elementaryos.org

  10. Pretty weird indeed, but still it sounds to me more like an electronics issue than a drivers' one.

  12. Yeah, that was a small place with high end aspirations. Great value for the price, but sometimes they reach a bit. Tasted really good, though!

  13. Finished the Alpine Loop Gran Fondo today, it hurt a lot. The "gravel" climbs were rocky enough that they alone could've been a challenging gravel ride. 14. http://www.expansys-usa.com/sony-z-ultra-google-play-edition-unlocked-lte-16gb-black-263504/ Just bought the Sony Z Ultra Google Play Edition from expansys for $335. Definitely a niche device, here is a quick list of pros/cons after owning the device for <24 hours: PROS: 6.4" screen, wonderful display, easy on the eyes. Top notch fit and finish, the phone is all glass and metal. Very clear call volume, even with people who I previous thought just had shitty phones. This is relative to the Nexus 5 call volume, my previous phone. Everything is super fast, as really all phones should be these days. Micro SD slot can hold a 64gb card. Phone is water resistant, if you are in to that Power input is at the top left corner of the phone, instead of the bottom. I like this for some reason. Standby/power switch is on the middle right of the phone, and is a round, silver metal button. Much better to put the switch here instead of the top right on a phone this size. Volume rocker is right below the power switch. Remarkably thin for a phone of this size GPE so you will always get the latest android update (running 4.4.4 right now) CONS: The phone is enormous. Fits fine in dress slacks and shorts pockets, but I imagine it won't work with jeans. All glass/metal design and the phones thinness could make it very easy to drop. Little flaps over all the inputs due to the water resistant nature of the phone, except the headphone jack which is somehow still water resistant A bit hefty weight wise, but this also adds to the solid feel of the phone. Your significant other and friends will make fun of you and your enormous phone. But they are just jealous. Camera doesn't have flash, but flash always ruins pictures for me anyway. Haven't had the opportunity to test the camera so I can't comment on overall quality.

  15. Zillamatic Leave it to Nixon to do something that I hadn't even thought of yet -- a black skeleton. Goddamn, that is a thing of beauty. EDIT: Oh, and they made an all-black 51-30: I might just have to make a trip up to New York for that.
