  1. Almost peed myself at work today. I come to my office this morning, see the main dev guy clacking away on his keyboard. Turns out the guy's been working on Sunday and had his kids with him. Keep in mind that our office is loaded with various kinds of headphones and studio monitors, we do acoustic research and measure headphones. I come by the dev guy and see that his B&W 686 bookshelf speaker has a poked metal (!!!) tweeter. Turns out his boy has been a very avid speaker poker and poked almost all of our monitors, which didn't suffer any permanent damage due to soft cone tweeters and paper woofers. So picture this - a grown ass man, trying to suck the metal tweeter back with his friggin mouth! In the end his french kissing didn't do much, because considerable force is needed to right back metal tweeters (imagine very thick metal foil). I did some repairs with a piece of scotch tape (stick and pull back), but some of the deeper creases didn't budge.

  9. Yeah, most of the hits for battery washing machine were about whether they could still use the battery.

  10. Just measured my speakers with a decibel meter app on my phone. Most likely not even close to accurate but told me an average of 57dB with a peak of 70dB. Should be fine with that for more than an hour I don't get the point of listening to music at 110dB at a concert and ruining one's hearing for life. Really don't see the allure.

  11. I've actually successfully employed the kissing technique although I never use tongue. I can't imagine that helping either the speaker or kisser.

  12. Vicki, assuming you have Netflix you should go all the way back to the beginning and watch it. There are some uneven patches, heck even recently they've stumbled a bit, but as you said it's not so much a car show as it is just a fun show to watch a lot of the time. I still go back and watch old episodes from time to time and watched a ton of them when Andrew wasn't sleeping well when he was little. edit - technically you can't go all the way back to the beginning since they don't include the first series but you aren't missing much there.

  13. Nothing leaked. Nothing can harm you. Nothing is wrong with your sheets. And certainly nothing is wrong with your washer. It's a heart-breaking shame that Tim isn't there to tell you the same, but you know that is what he would say. I'm truly sorry this is torturing you, Shelly, but you have absolutely nothing to worry about and hopefully you can let this go.

  14. no. Enough water goes though to dilute the acid to hopelessly weak concentrations. Front load washers are often cited as being gentler than top-load. So even less chance. Batteries don't leak until they are fully dead. Stop. We all have your best interests in mind here. There is nothing to worry about. Water for a batter spill applies to a car battery (or other Lead-Acid battery) and safe handling practices for the much stronger acids found there. It is not applicable to this situation.

  15. I never watched this show before. Ran into a marathon(ish) a couple months ago, and I'm totally addicted. Scared my animals a couple times laughing out loud. I don't really care about cars at all, but I'll admit this show is good fun.

  16. Saw this posted 2 days ago on another forum. Wouldn't want this sort of shit happening to anybody, any individual and any business of any sort. To be honest though judging from the way the Stereophile article was written about the thieves avoiding detection and was all professional alike, this sounded like an inside job with help of one its employees or somebody who has been inside there HQ, I mean the LCD headphones ain't cheap, but it takes a person who know where's what and how to move shit to rob $250,000 worth of headphones in over a few hours early in the morning. Could be a disgruntled ex-employee who use to work at Audeze. Somebody with enough knowledge and familiarity to know where things are but not kept up to date with knowing (for example the new EL-8 headphones) are stored in there warehouse. This ain't exactly like the TTVJ case where some of the amplifiers robbed were already high 4-5 digit priced gears. Maybe due to the latest boom in head gear audio, maybe we are dealing with a new syndicate targeting specific companies and stores and businesses? My 2c.

  17. Agree with the others. If no issue with the exterior of the batteries, very likely nothing leaked out. I'd say re-wash the sheets just in case, and indeed chuck the batteries. I'd think even if something did leak out, 1) you'd likely see staining, and 2) it would be OK with another wash. EDIT: and I don't think anything bad would happen to the washer either, FWIW. Oh, and switch to AC-powered Magic Fingers

  18. Better batteries than lipstick, Chapstick, or that God forsaken silly putty. Nothing effing worse than silly putty in the dryer! The batteries won't hurt anything, even if they leaked all over, just throw them away even if they work. The could leak later on. If it makes you feel better, wash them again (the sheets not the batteries).

  24. Spent all day in my office trying to get rid of papers and other junk so I'll eventually have room to move Tim's papers and junk into my office. My guess is that I have 2-3 more days of work in my office before I can start on Tim's office. The work never ends...
