  1. Thanks everyone. I survived the big 40 with fajitas, beer, margaritas, scotch, friends, and Cards Against Humanities. Unfortunately I developed a cold and it really hurts to swallow but I'll survive.
  2. no wonder everyone is watching - it is easy to follow..

  5. 40 are definitely the new 30, and if you push me a bit, more like 25. Life's just starting. Sorry for the cold get rid of it with more celebrations
  6. Sorry about the cold but congrat on the Big 4-0! Hadn't noticed or lacked data to know the significance of this year.

  12. I listened to a record for the first time in 5 or 6 years the other night. Now, to commence with the plan of getting it all setup at work...
  13. I saw them on the Perpetuum Mobile tour, so I've got that going for me. I also saw Triumph on the Progressions of Power tour. A friend of mine took a photo that ended up in one of their albums later (in mid-pyrotechnics), not sure if it was Allied Forces, though. Me: Sparkle in the Rain, super deluxe edition on Tidal.

Vicki is known as the Tolstoy of Texts! Burn battery burn!
  15. This DAC has interested me enough to demo it, so I placed an order. I haven't had too many DACs in house, mostly show listening, but I have never heard anything that is better than the APL NWO-M I have. And the Sonic Studio LIO-8 is not far behind the APL. It seems most of the people at HF ogling over this DAC have very minimal experience with high-end stuff, so sure it sounds great. But, it is being compared favorably to MSB at this point, and their stuff is quite nice. While the juvenile name stuff is off-putting for me (i totally understand the marketing genius), the attitude and science of the developers is quite refreshing.
  16. Not as strong, will not make soup, but I find for smoothies it is actually better as the blades go all the way up the pitcher. I actually bought a Vitamix for the office but ended up dedicating it to the bar at the house so bought this as fill in.

Thanks to the NYC Spring Meet yesterday, I was motivated to finish casing up my KGST. I'm very happy with the result. The chassis is 7" x 12.8". Perfect for my night table Here's the beast in it's intended home: Still need to do the finish and put a respectable knob on it. Here's the back of the amp. Because of the size I wanted to use a single 5 pin mini xlr. Had to build a cable as well. I Put the DAC behind the night table to keep a clean look. I'm just spent the last couple of hours listening and just love it.

The dawn of online piracy. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2015/04/27/the-man-who-broke-the-music-business (The irony of the digital version being freely available before the paid for print version is fitting)
