  1. Just made reservations for a place in East Boothbay Harbor Maine for Karen's birthday weekend. Same place we stayed at last year, we both loved it. Happy wife = happy me!

  4. Poor Jerome just contaminated about 3k worth of lube. Now I know why "No-Fun Carla" didn't want to jump his bones. Edit: Damn, 6 years to get to 1,000 posts, and it was this?

  5. Can someone explain why the market analysts are held in such high regard, when in other fields ,exceeding [their] expectations would be a sign of poor analysis?

  6. Bit of a drive for me, but it sounds like fun. I got in all of the detailing stuff I got from Detailer's Domain. Great store, 20% off your order for new customers. I have the foam cannon now and pressure washer and the car dryer thing. Neither really worked well enough to warrant their costs but they worked okay. I did the wash, then a coat of Opti-Coat Paint sealant followed by a treatment of Adam's Butter Wax.

  7. Can confirm everything Purk's said. The KGST has slightly sweeter mids, but the 450V/500V KGSShv implementations I've heard won't be far off that, and they've also got a wider soundstage, more solid bass, and play cleaner louder (I do listen loud at times). Though if your KGST is 400V (mine is 350V), then it may eat into those advantages considerably (though I have no way to confirm myself yet)? That's probably a really nice amp you've got yourself there.

  8. I bought one of these on your recommendation. I'll test it out on my PC this weekend.

  10. Yep - I guess you guys aren't too far apart, now. As always, Doug is pushing the boundaries of design thought with regard to headphone amplifiers. Very impressive.

  14. Wow, sad indeed. Reminds me a bit the situation of Eva Cassidy. Checked out some songs, a haunting and soulful voice. Will certainly check out more, thanks Dusty.

  15. @Dusty: Iggy's "The Idiot World Tour" featured Bowie on keyboards and backing vocals. @Grahame: interesting I guess, but moreso just selfish and unconcerned with parental propriety. He also took her to A Clockwork Orange when she was about 10. That didn't go as well.

  16. Day Two Bake (I need more sleep) Almost the Same - But Rye Loaf today Bread Loaf Size (g) = 600g Hydration (%) = 90% Total Water = 540g Leaven = 90g Salt = 17g Flours: White 360g Whole 150g Oat 90g Bake: covered 500 20 min covered 450 10 min uncover 20 min Levain was 9 hours - bulk rise 4.5 hours - proof another 6 hours. I still like the Oat a little better for my taste, but really good results - I think I may be getting the hang of this.

  17. You could definitely go that route, but it will take a lot of time. If you are looking for that just put together shiny new PC look where everything is absolutely spotless, your way might be the only way to go. I am pretty OCD about my computer with regards to dust, and I use this for everything: http://www.amazon.com/Metro-Vacuum-ED500-500-Watt-Electric/dp/B001J4ZOAW It is awesome, but it is very powerful. When cleaning fans, I keep a distance and keep the blades from spinning to prevent damage to the motor. 99.9% of all dust is blown into the next county. My PC looks pretty much new, but some things still have that almost microscopic dust that sticks like glue (like on the HDDs), but I never wanted to spend the time to go further since it'll get dirty again. If you want to go that little extra step and go crazy, then you could bust out the swabs and alcohol. Since you already purchased your items, go your route, and if it's not for you, consider the data vac.

  18. Good for you, Steve. The notion that a 3000 year old book somehow represents justification for bigotry is nonsense.

  19. Walked into a homophobic discussion with gay slurs, and idiotic statements about how the new gay marriage ruling is a slap in the face to Christians and their beliefs. It got very, very quiet when I walked into the room. But for the first time I can remember, I remained calm. I stated my case without malice and without raising my voice. I have no idea if I changed anyone's mind in any way, but I don't really care. I was so happy with myself for not flying off the handle. I have to attribute recent events and my experiences at this years Gay Pride Parade in San Francisco, for my new found patience. I now think of all my great friends who wouldn't want me any other way than what I am, and I gather much strength from that. NFLO!

  21. Very good (well, mostly). My ex-housemate was a big believer in the empathic abilities of kitties -- they sense when you're hurting and attend you more when they detect pain.
