  1. Not now but earlier in Austin.
  2. I'll go if Mikey goes. Otherwise it'll be The Wicker Man all over again.
  3. I barely got out alive when I went to Oktoberfest solo and it was pouring rain the whole time. If this group went together, there would be casualties.
  4. JH13s are awesome for $100
  5. And to begin the coming onslaught of photos from my Colorado trip:
  6. A good two days of working on the living room with my father. Faux fireplace, wired for TV and speakers, new built in nook for the electronics and some in-wall speakers to clean things up. Ship lap paneling, a reclaimed mantle and no wires makes me very happy. We just need to caulk, fill, prime and paint the pine and oil the mantle and take care of a spot where the plaster didn't cooperate when installing the speakers.
  7. So the wife isn't always suggesting cold showers?
  8. So the Islay Ferry actually goes out of Kennacraig - on the Mull of Kintyre (https://youtu.be/AcZVRiB9AQk) It is a trek to get from Glasgow to the Ferry - 2.5 hours. The Early ferry run would be a stretch. (oh and you can fly) Campbeltown (Springer and the other springer family beverages) is about an hour down the road from the ferry dock. So it maybe possible to head from Glasgow - play around - end up in Campbeltown for fun. Either stay down there - or catch the late ferry over to Islay. Note - if Islay is on the table book accommodations early, it is a small and popular isle, If the group is big enough I would say a house or cabin. Otherwise there are accommodations in Bowmore and Port Ellen that can work, (Lochside Hotel has a nice whisky bar) I love the highland area as well around Aberlour and Rothes (but that is another story all together)
  9. Went back and listened to Soma -- yeah, that didn't suck, neither. I liked its patience a little better, but I prefer the more recent release's previously described balance. Also really dig John Grant's Gray Tickles, Black Pressure from NPR's First Listen -- really great contemporary alternative.
  10. (squints) Used IEMs? (involuntarily shudders)
  11. Had something similar a year ago. It was awful -- had a million tests done, including an MRI of my head. Nothing turned up. Doctor said in the end he thought it was a virus or some sort. Hope you feel better quickly, but take the time to do so. School's not that interesting. We went for a drive around western CT and MA to see the leaves, and met up with family for some dinner. It felt very New England.
  12. I hate to revive a zombie, but I finally had a chance to hear the Crack/HD600 paining. Wow! What an amazing value for the price. It looks like Bottlehead has just launched an upgraded crack: http://bottlehead.com/product/crack-a-two-a/ I'm thinking the Crack-a-two-a will be a nice little project. I ordered a kit and I'm looking forward to breaking out the iron and getting to work.
  13. Can't buy that plane ticket fast enough...
  14. Just another random idea as I sit here drinking with Mike G... Oktoberfest?
  15. Prosciutto/Bacon Wrapped Pork Loin
  16. Just touching ground on Islay would be a dream. Interested.
  17. We're all either building our own amps, buying amps someone else here built, or buying amps someone else here used to own. Only like five dudes here buy new amps, and the rest of us draft off of them.
