  1. So I'm heading up to Denver to spend the night before surgery, since my checkin time for surgery is 5:30am and I'd rather make the hour and a half drive tonight. Thanks for the prayers and well wishes.

  2. Hey gang, So, I woke up in post-op recovery about 4 hours ago. I'm having much better pain control than the last few leg surgeries. I've got a 1mg/hour morphine drip and can push a button to get an extra 1mg every 10 minutes, but only need it like every 30-60 minutes. The doctor says things went really well, and if I hadn't swapped the old skinny rod in my femur for this fatter one that I'd probably have never had my bone heal. The old rod wasn't very tight inside the bone anymore, and I was wobbling around on the rod, basically re-breakng any bone that would have been healing. i was very scared to have a fifth surgery after the accident, but I'm so happy that I did. I'll likely go home Saturday, but I'm hoping that if my pain is under control and my weight bearing with physical therapy goes well today that I could go home tomorrow (30-40% chance if I push hard).

  3. I'll check as that's the only bit I actually care about. It helps to have a distributor that basically lets me do what ever I want.

  6. Can't help it, you're sort of a wine Christ figure. "Wheresoever cork is withdrawn from bottle. There also shall I be."

  7. ^^^ This, with the one caveat that I'm not sure I'd recommend a project this complex (from a cost standpoint) for someone who truly doesn't know how to solder. Soldering isn't really difficult, but you definitely get better with some practice. To that end, just buy a piece of perfboard from RadioShack and practice on that for a few hours prior to starting the project and then you should be good to go.

  8. It is a pretty easy and straightforward build. The hardest part about assembling an amp is generally the casework, and that is already done.

  9. A real response? AppleTV. I use one at work where I can't connect to a Wi-Fi network. The beauty of the AppleTV is that it uses Bluetooth to proximity-locate the iPhone and then does a kind of local Wi-Fi connection between the two to allow for lossless AirPlay streaming. You would then connect the optical out of the AppleTV to the optical input. I picked up a refurb for $50, have it connected via the optical out to my DAC and then to my Quad 9L Active speakers. Lossless digital connection and wireless, too. Just in case someone is looking down the road.

  13. Started re-reading The Worm Ouroboros by ER Eddison (I first read it in 1975; pass the walking frame....). If you haven't read it, it was written in the 1920's and is a fantasy novel of great quests and warfare, written largely in 16th century English. Good summary here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Worm_Ouroboros One of a series of 3.5 books (A Fish Dinner in Memison and Mistress of Mistresses) - the 0.5 is what remains after Eddison died before finishing it (The Mezentian Gate).

  14. It said that the driving Mosfets were inside the cups. Then there is no way that these haedphones can be driven by other amplifiers without serious modifications.

  15. First shipping as of today. US/Canda + some others. Canda is going direct. US going by Jay.(people will receive pm with tracking) Another bach tomorrow. Then only a few will have to wait until late next week, where the remainder of the caps arrives. some packages may look a bit crusty, but every single cap has been wrapped in plastic bubbles, then the batch has been wrapped in bigger plastic bubbles (Mouser, pink)
