  1. There are a fair number of twisty roads with elevation changes around (going further out than I usually go) but as Jeff pointed out the police are pretty ubiquitous which puts a cramp on the fun. That said I had a very pleasant drive to work today at approximately 10 over the speed limit.

  2. Xavier wanted to go for a ride since the weather let up from the downpours this weekend. I remembered we had an extra bit of daylight, so we headed out around 6:30 to do what we could. 6.66 miles and 66 minutes 6 seconds later (It wasn't planned, but it was pretty awesome) we wound up back home and feel SO much better than had we just sat around and watched a movie. I really wish he would have wanted a road bike 2 years ago when he got his mountain bike; we could have had more fun all along, but still, this has been a blast having an enthusiastic riding buddy. According to the Garmin, we got 470 ft of climbing in 6.66 miles. That's like, a year's worth for Raffy, right? **BRENT**

  3. Mexican beef with repurposed corn salsa. We had enough salsa left from last night so we added black beans and used tonight as well. The Instant Pot meat was very tender, but a tiny bit dry. I'll adjust the cook time down more next time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. I BELIEVE they should have been picked up by someone a few days ago, so you needn't worry. It was a stupidly good deal, and I wanted them, but no way I could justify them. Maybe one day. **BRENT**

  6. and you'd feel really bad if Chris in the cheap ford beat Jeff in the S4. In a contest between breeder wagons, no harm no foul.

  10. Roomba is an expensive toy. And then it breaks. Then the battery dies. Rinse and repeat. Very bad waste of $450. My dogs also don't like it.

  11. Like the grotesque Mrs Gamp in Dickens' Martin Chuzzlewit. An alcoholic and abusive nurse/midwife/undertaker who kept gin in her teapot, and was permanently sozzled. "Mrs Gamp stored all her household matters in a little cupboard by the fire-place; beginning below the surface (as in nature) with the coals, and mounting gradually upwards to the spirits, which, from motives of delicacy, she kept in a teapot"

  12. Sous vide skirt steak cooked at @145F mostly because I had ribs in there already for a 48 hour cook. Was done more than I like steak to be but in just 2 hours man was it absurdly tender. Can only imagine what a longer cook at a lower temperature would yield. Very tasty steak. Definitely a lot better than the skirt steaks I have prepared in the past. Actually enjoyed it more than a ribeye which I am starting to find too fatty. This was just perfect. Veggies are next on the list. It's nice that even if I over shoot the cook times, there's nothing too detrimental that happens so I am happy about that.

  15. We have this, but having kids requires much more than the once a week cleaning... I think we vacuum about 6 times a day most days cleaning up after them. My 2yr old will even go get the vacuum after dropping something and say "oh no! a mess! clean!"

  16. Ours is a SEBO upright. Just keeps going - maybe ten years or more - and never missed a beat. Two filters, one of which I rinse out with soapy water maybe twice a year, and the other I take outdoors and beat the dust out. And the bag of course - everything that goes in stays in.

  17. That is great to hear Brent. Cycling is a great exercise. Oh, and I wish I could afford those Garmin power meter pedals, I would be all over those! I'd love to have that power meter.
