  1. Listened to this for the first time today. Pad is from a SR-007 and cable from an old Lambda and the rest is home made. The main parts are made with files from Wachara (chinsettawong). Many thanks. A lot more has to be done before it’s a decent headphone.

  2. Done and some nostalgia as it's been a decade since this was going on...

  3. Alas they did not do Echoes. At 20-odd minutes it would have used up a lot of the concert. That original 1972 pompeii gig was superb. Two of the best of Mason's comments last night were "We're not the Australian Roger Waters!" and "I toured with Roger Waters, and he was jealous about using the gong. But tonight I get to use the gong myself!" (For Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun) The very best recent version of Echoes was also at Pompeii in 2006 with Gilmore and Wright. The bass guitarist is the same guy that played last night.

  4. I have no league. Just seemed like a crazy argument all around. Think we would all be better just listening to some good music.

  5. Back to the earlier topic. Life expectancy skewed because the average included child mortality, which was exceptionally high. However, although Mozart and Schubert died young, JS Bach was 65, JC Bach 53, Thomas Tallis 80, Beethoven 56, Hildegard of Bingen 81, Wagner 70 etc etc And back even further to the topic of the thread - last night went to see Nick Mason in concert doing early Floyd - nothing post Meddle. So Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Saucerful of Secrets, Meddle, Atom Heart Mother and a few that I did not know at all. Despite being 74 now he had lost absolutely none of his drumming ability and played for two hours solid.

  8. Here's a plug for Arrow Electronics as a source for components. They don't seem to offer quite as broad a selection and Mouser, but pricing is generally better and shipping (at least to the US) is free and overnight regardless of order value. What is interesting is that parts in the same order often arrive in multiple overnight express packages from multiple locations. One order I placed had parts delivered from Las Vegas and Holland.

  9. I love Barry but I am waiting to watch until tonight. I can weigh in on your assertion later.

  10. Quick question... We know there are three things that can kill the dead. Before the witch shows up, from hangin’ out in seemingly nowhere, and does her thing, was the plan to send the Dothraki forward without any of the three?

  11. What a great looking cat, Jacob. He might well have a very long life still ahead of him. Our (remaining) cat Cleo is 16, nearly 17 and is still going strong. Eats like a horse. Because she is so old she is not so spry and cannot get out of the garden now. Which is a good thing given current circumstances with poor Cheese. My daughter says that cats leave paw prints on your soul. So true.

  12. How stupid am I. I found the papers for the cats, today. The crazy old lady at the SPCA "Kitty City" had told me that Dunhill was 8, and I never actually double-checked. He was born in mid-December, 2008. He was 10. I am not going to get as much time with him as I thought, and I am shocked by that. I guess we'll have fewer dances to soul music, he and I. Silver is two, just like I thought. Dunhill is by far the best thing in my life, at the moment. New girlfriend would agree, I'm sure. Dunhill is by far the best thing in anybody-who-he-has-met's life. He's like if there was a "joy" infinity stone, and I have that stone, and that stone sleeps on my bed. Silver has not done well with all the people who have passed through, but Dunhill is mine. He doesn't care as long as he can plant his butt against my hip at 2 AM. I thought he was 8.
