  1. I forget to hang some photos of this amplifier. Sorry, I did not have any GRLV at that time ready.

Silver is obsessed with bags. This is where my briefcase ended up, tonight. That is where Silver ended up.

  5. Dunes of the death valley, CA. Click for slightly larger. Lofoten, Norway.
  6. An album of songs written and performed by the Purple One that he had given to other artists? Count me in!
  7. Agreed on the heat (full size vs. mini). I really don't view the MPSWs as being a problem though. Rough install... if I do this, I will attempt to get everything aligned all nice and purdy... I don't know for sure, but in my current estimation, the minis I've built sound better than the full size My full size is running at 17-18mA bias. Perhaps I've gone too far?
  8. Been busy listening to this, just replacing the output resistors was enough. I suppose lesson learned is that as soon as you stop looking for rookie mistakes is exactly when they happen.
  9. I finally cracked the ancient Durbar that I’ve been slowly hydrating for the last half decade. It was sawdust when I got it. It’s perfect, now. Should go great in this Sav autograph (I should probably smoke it in my Parker, but whatever).

I love the detail on this late 60s buckle. Look at the stippling!
  11. Let's just say I have a personal museum...
  12. And they can drive. Very cool, Hop! Thanks for sharing. I received an invite from a friend today to join him on the road course this coming Saturday. If weather holds, he'll have a Cayman GT4 he'll drive there and back home. Offered it up to me for a test drive (off track...which is the only way I would take advantage of such a generous offer). I might get lucky... If so I'll post some pics. vroom vroom... HS
  13. If growing up in certain parts of the country and you liked cooling off on hot summer days with ice cream at a Friendly’s, you should know its co-founder, Curtis Blake, just died at 102 (his brother, the other co-founder, is still going at 104). Ice cream diet here I come. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/30/obituaries/curtis-blake-dies.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share
  14. The sane take is it fills a big gap in their Pro product line and the prices are reasonable for that segment of users -- but if you want one at home to browse the Web, you are an idiot. I therefore rule nothing out.
  15. Looks like you are in luck! https://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/60263574/
  16. I heard from a little bird that amd won a next gen super computer deal so their gpus should be getting significantly faster soon.
  17. Karen and I "Met the Fokkers" last night. Our son Andrew has been pretty serious with a wonderful young lady he met at college. The great news is that her family lives 2 towns over from us, so they can see each other easily outside of the school year. Amy is going for 8 weeks to special program in Kenya this Summer, and she and Andrew thought it would be great to have the parents meet. Simple dinner at Bertucci's, but it was very successful, we enjoyed the company and chat very much. It helps that the father works in IT like me, has a slightly similar sense of humor, and looks just a little bit like Peter in Family Guy ? It just felt very normal and pleasant, and the fact that it was the kids' idea made it even more special....
  18. RIP Murray Gell-Mann, the guy who won the (unshared) Nobel Prize for particle physics symmetry and the Quark. A genius from an early age, he won a place at Yale at the age of 15 and graduated at 19. A full Professor at 29.

My 2015 MBP is continuing to have two major issues: (1) it can't keep the battery charged when using taxing applications (like Traktor) and (B) kernel_task consumes 500-2000+ % CPU when I do something silly like run Flash. k_t doesn't cut it the fuck out even when I exit Chrome. I did some googling and apparently it's an issue related to the failure of thermal sensors. I've just gotten off the phone with AppleCare and I've got an appointment at the nearest Apple Store (still an hour away) on Monday. This most likely means there will be no Test Tone next week, but I can't say for sure.
  20. Oh no! This is going to be a tough one for many of us... Dr. John gone at 77. Heart attack. Truly an original. He was a legend. https://www.theadvocate.com/new_orleans/news/article_a962e500-8877-11e9-991d-2f4782c02ae0.html That's going to be one hell of a funeral procession... they do huge send offs in New Orleans for even half famous musicians. This one will be epic, as it should be.
