  1. I know this is small beer compared to what Jose has gone through in the last couple of days, but three weeks post op on my finger this is what it looks like now. I'm really pleased with the outcome, and the remaining scar will fade away pretty much totally.

  2. RIP Syd Mead, brilliant concept artist for Blade Runner, Tron, Alien, and so many others...

  3. Thanks guys!!! Craig, I'm glad you're fine. That finger already looks good!! Now I am fine. They have allowed me to return home today in the afternoon. For a moment I saw myself as one of Alien's characters. Since I have not been able to say goodbye to the year, now I will take the fucking medicines and start listening to some music at home. Iron: where were they from exactly?

  4. Took Mary and Lance to LAX this morning at 3:45. Though getting up at 2 in the morning is tough it is well worth it to be able to drive the freeways with no traffic. The 45 minute commute this morning can take as much as two hours if you are unlucky enough to be going to LAX in the late morning or afternoon. Fingers crossed for a good experience in Charlotte this weekend.

  5. Get well soon, Jose. What a way of starting the year. I've been at a hospital in new year's eve as a patient and as a worker, neither is awesome, but after all it's like any other day. Sex deprivation is worse, I wish it stops hurting soon

  6. Very glad to know you are doing fine now. You got the drug and rock'n roll, only one thing missing ...

  7. Yeah, I'm no lawyer, so I'm literally doing that thing that we all hate: hypothesizing. Oh, also, persecuting, convicting, and judging.

  9. I'm not sure. The same happens with the imitations of the "Beast". Although the driver is different, they are copying an industrial design. Another matter is that Beyer, after 1000 years of manufacturing the DT770, has granted or sold the patent.

  10. Hope the recovery is coming along okay Jose! Funny, I was watching the New Years celebrations on tv and a couple of gals at Time Square said they were from The Canary Islands. " I wonder if Jose knows them?" Crossed my mind (as if there are only 20 folks living there or something stupid like that). Anyway,.. Get well soon (and give us the gory details when you're up to it)!

  11. WTF? That sounds distinctly not nice at all. How are you post op?

  12. Whoa! Are you OK/recovering now?

  13. Did he ever really do better than this? IMHO, this is -- far and away -- his masterpiece. I know people worship Richard D. James Album and Druqks, but nothing he did on those was as mind-blowing as this was to my 31-year-old brain (actually, probably 32 by the time I heard it, I was not exactly "in the know").

  15. A slightly broader 100 photos that defined the decade. Some tough ones here.

  16. A rare sight for southern California and an even rarer sigh from my back yard. I feel like I have been transported to Denver or something.

  17. There are quite a few issues with using the SoCas adapters to fit the modern stax pads on an old set. First and foremost these headphones are designed to have angled pads while the Lx00-series Have the driver itself angled. If you want to use conventional pads on stax that is a VERY bad idea. The volume of the pads is significantly larger than what the driver is intended for and you'll end up with a boomy mess. I'd say you should just stick to the type of pads that are meant for your headphone, or at least close. Stax still sells the EP234 pads which is what you are looking for if your old pads are worn.

  18. OK, a physical problem is something different. Sorry. For components, distributors such as Mouser, etc. are a guarantee. If you are going to do is an amplifier designed by Dr. Gilmore, maybe some member of this forum can sell you pcb´s.

  19. Don Larsen. He was married to my wife's first cousin, once removed (meaning my wife's mother's first cousin). I only met him once, at a funeral, where he was a none too thrilled to be a local celebrity - triggered by someone somewhat inappropriately asking him to sign a baseball (which he did anyway.)

  20. At dawn from 31 to 1, I had an acute peritonitis ... so I left the year in the operating room ?

  21. It was a year ago, but I only just learned of it: James Calvin Wilsey, the king of slow, and sometime Chris Isaak’s guitarist. I want to be him when I grow up.
