Someone with very deep pockets, a very hazy grip on room acoustics, and the most uncomfortable listening chair I've seen (right of centre )

  3. Finally went back and read the WaPo's "Afganistan Papers" series from a few months ago. The first of the 6 can be found here: https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2019/investigations/afghanistan-papers/afghanistan-war-confidential-documents/&sa=D&source=hangouts&ust=1579547061878000&usg=AFQjCNGSIbHsOFSr6LkfTRmw0_UJWxkRyA Very sad to read it. What a waste. The blunders by both the Bush and Obama administrations look terrible in hindsight. Governing, particularly in a place like Afghanistan, is really, really hard. Lots of lessons to learn though, #1 being to not start things unless you have a realistic plan on how to finish them.

...also why is that poor turntable so close to not one but two of Wilson's WTF huge Thor's Subwoofer of Ragnarok Doom?

Someone with a room with no acoustic common sense is a duff-user
  6. Cold and snowy day in Minnesota. A good day to stay home and enjoy some music. The Blue Hawaii with Brimar-branded Mullard XF2 EL34 is sounding mighty good!

IMHO Superbooth has taken the world by storm. I've been trying to figure out a way to get over there to attend one (and an F1 race maybe). If you haven't watched one of the endless SonicState videos from last year, here's a good one with a Richard Devine interview. He's using one of the Polyend sequencers that are pretty popular (and a butt load of other goodies).
  12. Listening now ? Dat bass (in the opening track) ?

It's a good time to be alive (I stopped posting the individual announcements because there were so many, but the Pro 3 has me excited--your choice of 3 filters! That's crazy! https://www.musicradar.com/news/the-best-new-synths-of-namm-2020

  15. It's finally done. Negative GRHV output resistor changed to 3.3R. 170D was substituted with ROHM in GRHV. As for sound. In Brief, the BH sits between Carbon and GG.
  16. Better than the fate of a friend of mine, Paddy Glenny, who emigrated from the UK to start a brewery in Nelson in British Columbia, Canada. Along with his brewing activities he trained as a park ranger. As part of his responsibilities he used to paint ball grislies so that their movements could be tracked. He described this crazy process of getting down wind from this apex predator, and trying to get it with three different colours. After which put live rounds in the chambers in case the bear charged. He also packed a magnum hand gun, again as a back stop. Next thing he got gored by a juvenile black bear across the buttocks, that crashed into the clearing when he was eating lunch. It also stomped his satellite phone. So he had a very nervous 20 mile hike out leaving a blood trail. He survived that. At then, somewhat later he just plain disappeared. His remains were never found, the assumption being that a grisly eventually got him, and any remains were finished off by a host of other predators.
