First post Covid soccer tournament this weekend. It was his clubs tournament so the team could not say no. One game Friday, two yesterday (including a 1.5 hour rain/lightening delay so got home after 9 pm) and the championship game today. Peter plays left center back so he doesn’t get to score many goals but he has become their designated penalty kicker and scored two during the tournament. We nicknamed him “Vanilla Ice” because he is a very calm kicker and unlike Lionel Messi, he has never missed a penalty kick in a game. They ended up winning their division so now we just have to wait and see if it becomes a superspreading event. Peter is the one you would expect to be nicknamed “Vanilla Ice”.7 points

The pads are smaller than standard Akai type pads. They're 25 x 20 mm. One feature that I like with pad and the keyboard is the velocity curve can be quickly changed between 3 settings. The most compressed setting decreases the difference between high a low velocities. The sensitivity changes quite a bit with the different setting too (the volume is about 2x higher between the lowest to highest setting with identical ergs). Overall, I'd consider the pad to be better than average. I'd love to try a Handsonic. I'm sure there's no comparison to the expression you could produce with something like that. Pretty pricy though.1 point

We are really liking the fat ratio, it was a 10lb pork belly slab from Costco. I am not really sure about the people that want their bacon on the meaty side. And I don't think I want to find out. Guess I should just make lardo. (or make some pig tails for Al)1 point

Has it been cryo-treated? I heard that's important to truly get the best temperature readings from an analog thermometer. Otherwise try giving it a few hours back and forth between warm and cold places to accelerate the break-in process.1 point

I made quite the discovery today. In the early 2010s, I bought a lot of indie video game bundles from a variety of sites. A number of them no longer exist (Indie Royale), have been sold to a much larger company (Humble Bundle) or have mutated into storefronts (Fanatical, who used to be *mumble*). One oddball from that era was Groupees. Strange name, even stranger site. They sold product keys for Steam, Desura and ShinyLoot (the latter two no longer exist.) They often included comic books in PDF format and lots of music in their bundles. As part of the massive data migration I've been working on for a year now, I went through some ancient bundle detritus. Among the files was a bunch of stuff from Groupees. Out of curiosity, I checked their site out. They're still very much active, primarily selling indie music now including a bunch of synthwave(!) I was surprised to see that they didn't have no-name artists either. For example: https://groupees.com/occamslaser Occams Laser is the \m/ of synthwave. There is nothing chill about the music he makes. It's like the soundtrack to an action/horror movie from a much cooler version of the 1980s that never existed. I own a bunch of his EPs and I'm still buying that bundle because there's a couple on there I don't have in FLAC.1 point
