  1. This was not meant to happen. Modifying the original DIY T2. But now it’s done. I couldn’t resist to change the output current sources. Replaced two 2SA1486 with single 2SA1968 and removed four 150K resistors. I put a small heat sink on the transistors. They will dissipate half a watt or so. 2SA1968 is a 900V device, but I’ve reduced high voltages to +/-400V so that should be fine. By the way the 2SC3675 is also a 900V device.
  2. Then I found this... ...love this thread.
  3. Oh shit Waxahatchee released 3 covers with an anniversary deluxe version of their album from last year. The Lucinda Williams cover is especially nice Bonus: Did not know that First Aid Kit did a live concert tribute for Leonard Cohen
  4. It’s like being an archaeologist I imagine, very welcome @chocolates!
  5. I’m working all week around. Today I milled left channel board similar to the right side done yesterday. Here it is. For some reason the holes of big pads aren’t centered. Grrrrr. Three round tanned pads close to offset trimmer are test points. Measure voltage cross 100R resistors R25 and R31 and you get an idea of current through output stages. I got 1.014V and 1.007V so approximately 10mA.
  6. Dope Lemon – Hey You AronChupa & Little Sis Nora – Trombone Patricia Janečková – Les oiseaux dans la charmille (Jacques Offenbach - Les contes d' Hoffmann)
  7. Hi! i would like to share my work with you. I made an dynalo amp powered by grlv power supply and a pcm1794a/cm6631a dac. Everything is totaly made by me. I also designed the pcb nd ordered it from JLCPCB. Amp offset voltage stays at max +-1mV and it is totally silent. Case is DOUK AUDIO. pictures: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1a6cbGFpN6s5EadR8DA_lb21ZFwOwzK4R?usp=sharing
  8. I might help you with a few. Ping me if interested.
  9. Omit zeners along with the drop down resistor if you have the 300V supply.
  10. The first board is 120mm x 60mm / 4.72in 2.37in while this latest is 99mm x 56mm / 3.92in x 2.22in. Here they are together with a mini T2 for comparison.
  11. I love dice and dominoes!
  12. I’ve been playing two online D&D games a week all March, and I’m having a phenomenal time. Not quite the same as my usual fare, but very fun nevertheless.
  13. Although the Suez canal has been deepened and widened several times since it opened in 1869, it clearly isn't deep and wide enough to cope withe that behemoth container ship jammed across the canal. My dad was in the merchant navy shortly after WW2, on oil tankers that were pre WW2 vessels. He went through the Suez canal frequently. although those ships were toys by comparison to the monsters that sail nowadays. He told a story about losing power half way across the Atlantic - the old tub had developed perforated boiler tubes and was losing steam pressure. To keep it going he found sacks of sawdust, and fed those into the boiler to plug the leaks. When he ran out of sawdust he got the ship's supply of porridge and progressively fed that into the boiler. That limped them to port in the West Indies. Without those stunts they would have been dead in the water mid Atlantic.
  14. Maybe you are using the wrong amplifier ...
  15. I don't think it's a question of 'proper' sound stage, of course no headphones can do that. It's fair however within the context of headphones to critique the Utopia's (really any Focal for that matter) for having a smallish sound stage. It's just not a focus of the sound they are going for and that's perfectly fine. They excel in detail and dynamics and are fantastic headphones in those regards.
  16. I agree with both of these. Some headphones do better than others but speakers do better and unless you have a shitload of money to throw at your system, live concerts are always better.
  17. The R10 and Qualia are still two cups on either side of your head. The soundstge is still inside your head. It might be wider, but you can't close your eyes and locate the instruments on a stage. They'll never be in front of you, but instead they're inside of you.
  18. The AKG K1000 comes closest, but even then it can't compare to a live music experience.
  19. I've always liked Desmond's way of playing. Dave Brubeck might have been a good pianist... but the soul of his quartet was Paul
  20. Actually yesterday, and you can probably guess why I did not post this yesterday. Third of four tastings done in Los Olivos.
  21. Your neighborhood is really going to the birds. Your neighbor seems like a real turkey.
  22. Had a nice conversation with a neighbor. He's a bit hard to understand, but more than willing to sit and chat with me. He hung around telling me all about his day for better than 15 minutes.
  23. 1 point
And now for something insane. The two monoblocks weigh half a ton, and in US speak around $400k . Dan D'Agostino going totally bonkers. https://dandagostino.com/products/relentless-monoblock.php
