  1. Here is one of my mini T2. Left channel is changed to this… A Megatron something. Upper EL34 changed to T2 style CCS with 3 x 2SC4686 and 01N100D driving two LEDs. Current 28mA, cathode resistance 1390 ohm (the 500R resistors and a trimmer). The big black capacitors are Mundorf MCap Supreme silver/gold/oil, expensive but they look nice. My kitchen at lunch time.

  2. I think I have listened to this 6 times in the last two days. I probably will listen to it 6 more in the next two.

  3. Actress Ellen Terry, aged 16 - photographed in 1864 by a wizard of early photography, Julia Margaret Cameron in Freshwater on the Isle of Wight. I've visited the museum in her house and studio. (Apart from Cameron's astonishing work, there is a bronze statue outside of Jimi Hendrix)

  5. there was a long explanation on this topic somewhere at diyaudio. in general N x smaller transistors is going to have less total silicon area than 1 bigger transistor at the same power dissiption which probably means less cob. edit: without the servo 70mv on the output is about right. i don't remember what the output stage bias is supposed to be, too lazy to look it up. hook up signal generator 16 ohm load and scope and you will know whether its working right or not. edit: edit: your desk is way to neat. nothing good can come from something this clean. look at pictures in the megatron thread for what your desk shoud look like.

  6. Finally got the output stage of my amp at least somewhat functioning. Spent a solid few weeks scratching my head and thinking I screwed something up. Nope, both 45 tubes I have had bad heaters. Bought another tube and now everything is as it should be. Next stop: find some output transformers.

  8. Does Greyson inherit the Raptor? I mean it is Arkansas, so I assume 8 is legal to drive there.

  9. Absolutely. I'll turn you on to my tuner. A simple pulley swap and more mojo...easy peasy. I'll give you my number and share whatever I can. I run E85 full time. The tuner also provided a "flex" tune so if you want to swap between the two you can. The only thing about E85 is that you consume 30% more fuel but it's cheaper so the rub is it readily available in your area. My TrackHawk has the same motor your TRX would have. I pulled the blower in the driveway with some friends' assistance (the blower is a pig as it has built in cooling and well...MOPAR), swapped to a smaller pulley for added boost (you need an extractor I would gladly loan you), shorter belt, bigger injectors, a cooler thermostat and a tune/calibration that you need to "crack" your PCM (control module) to use. I use HP Tuners for software and run VMWare on my Mac Pro so I can run Win to use the tuning software. You'll void the warranty but warranty shwaranty.... I've run a 10.3 sec quarter mile at ~132mph and I pushed her to 187mph at the standing mile (Texas Mile) a couple of weekends ago....weighing 5617lbs with my arse in her. Coefficient of drag 1.0...hahaha. Stock catalytic converters and exhaust. I could do a lower pulley / damper swap and pin the crank and make more but I'd have to pull the cat's which I don't feel like doing as it's my daily. Vroom vroom... HS A buddy of mine took delivery of this gem earlier this week. Carrera S stick car. I'm so jelly... HS

  10. MSRP from a local dealer. It’s .3” longer than the Raptor and 1.2” wider, so it should feel exactly the same. Since 702 HP isn’t enough, any recommendations on tuners for it?

  11. I already get a whopping 13 mpg on the Raptor so it’s not a terrible difference. This or the Raptor R will probably be my last gas vehicle so might as well end it with something fun.

  12. @Voltron - This is crazy. I literally listened to Morphine Thursday night for the first time in probably 5 or more years.

  13. ^^^ Late to the party but I think you'll like the TRX a lot. By all accounts its way more stupid than anyone needs but pegs the fun meter at 10, as long as you don't mind something like 10mpg. Me - CEL came on in the BMW. Code reader says it's related to the engine running too lean. The interwebs say it's like a dirty or failed MAF sensor or a vacuum leak so I'll start tomorrow by cleaning the MAF and resetting the code and going from there.

  16. That's funny Nate. I was in Boston when they were first playing and I wish I could remember where we saw them. The Paradise? Middle East Cafe? Mark Sandman died way too young, but I see they named a little square for him in front of the Middle East. That's cool

  18. Good info, we will have to link up whenever it comes in. No E85 here only 93. I'll probably stick with things that don't break the warranty or can easily be reversed if I do have to take it in. I would never hear the end of it if I toasted a motor that couldn't be covered. I do really want a 911 Turbo S, maybe some day when my earthworm farm takes off.

  19. The Onyx Coffee Lab Advent Calendar boxes started shipping. No clue when I'll receive mine but I'm hoping it's next month as I have some vacation planned. The 24 individual packages are nitro flushed so hopefully nice and fresh....can't wait. Until then I'm roughing it with a lovely Peruvian from Memli. Happy caffeinating... HS

  20. Done the first power-on. No magic smoke escaped! But something's not right: Bench power supplies set to 21 Volts. Current draw is 161mA for both the positive and the negative rails. Had to adjust the bias-pot all the way to one side to get a minimum current across the test points of 109mV. I thought that there should be more play here? The power transistors / heatsinks hardly get even warm - after waiting for roughly 10 minutes. DC voltage at the output (with input shorted to ground and no servo OP-amp installed) is at 70mV. Any ideas, anyone? Maybe I will stop for today and have a good look with fresh eyes tomorrow... *frustrated* ?

  21. because 4 x small transistors in parallel are faster than 1 bigger transistor. paralleling lots of transistors is still a thing on all current krell amps. if you change out the opamp to opa541 then you can boost the rails to 30v.

  22. Well, she went ahead and bought the Rancilio combination, and I agree with her reasoning -- it's not just for herself, as she will be able to serve it to clients, so will also be able to write it off on taxes.

  23. Haven't slept well the last couple, and limited meetings today. So while working from home, and no one else in the house, have been listening to some interesting wake-me-the-fuck-up music. Converge/Chelsea Wolfe - Bloodmoon: I

  24. 24 volts 1.67 amps mounting holes 3.7 x 1.7 inches, it's a board. I forget what the connectors are. edit: found em, more expensive now, but not insane: http://www.nextwarehouse.com/item/?1689025_g10e&gclid=CjwKCAiAs92MBhAXEiwAXTi25wYeg3-De0RzhTG8f8pRAQGB18dchAF-y13a6_JsWNaoAy6TitamqxoCUJMQAvD_BwE

  26. I have to say that I've been hugely impressed by the little Breville Bambino (I guess technically I have the "Plus" but they didn't call it back then). It's dead simple to use and my taste buds tell me it produces as good or better shots/drinks than my local coffee shops with precious little effort. It's just one piece of at least a three-part chain (coffee, grinder, brewer) so buying it or any other decent quality piece and failing at the others does you less good than setting yourself up with good or better pieces at each point. As this thread has shown, you can clearly invest a lot more and I'm not arguing that the results aren't better, but I've hit a nice sweet spot for me that doesn't drive SWMBO insane. That's my 2c.

  27. This one hurts. I'm a huge fan of the band, and two of my best friends IRL are two of the band's biggest fans, and we were just talking about him/them on Thursday, the day before the accident, anticipating a North American tour: https://www.loudersound.com/news/big-big-train-singer-david-longdon-dead-at-56
