  1. http://thirdmanrecords.com/news/tidal-subscription-promotion-for-vault-members Really great Tidal promotion for Third Man Vault subscribers. In an nutshell, if you are a subscriber to the Third Man quarterly vault subscription, you can enter a promo code to get Tidal HiFi for $5/month. If you aren't familiar with the vault, you subscribe and pay $60 per quarter, and quarterly they ship you some kind of awesome vinyl package. I've been subscribing since this summer, and if you like Jack White and third man type stuff the packages are awesome. Anyway, I had to cancel my account and start a new one to make the promo work, which sucks, but worth it to get Tidal for $5/month.

  5. I might deep six TIDAL. Find myself preferring Spotify for mobile and can get reliable 16/44.1 FLAC in browser from Qobuz on the desktop. You guys would love Qobuz, has a shit ton of jazz and classical.

  6. Give it to me as a early Christmas gift... this will solve many of your troubles. The warranty will not go to waste, you do not have to worry about returning it or scratching it, and I am not strapped for cash.

  8. Had an impulse non-watch, but watch-related purchase at the watch store while ordering a new Breitling bracelet. Bought it for the desk to store my cocaine, etc. in the new office. Solid bronze.

  9. Will definitely check that out Dusty..... As for me: after listening to Carly Dow, Iain's friend, and liking that....it put me in the mood for the lovely Tift Merritt. Tambourine gracing my ears now.

  12. Wasn't sure where to put this, so here seemed fine, though applicable to a bunch of amps here. Balanced-SE input jack board with switch. I was playing around in Eagle (after having to manually wire one of these up). This is set up to use either a 4PDT switch (for isolating all 4 signals) or a 2PDT if you only want to switch the - signals to ground for SE, but leave the + signals connected to the RCA jacks. Pads are provided to connect RCAs. I haven't verified the heights of the Neutrik NC3FAV jacks versus the switch height. My goal would be to have the board mounted to the faceplate via the Neutrik jacks only, with the switch sitting behind the faceplate and the toggle only extending through a slot. Might need a standoff or two as well. Switches this is designed for are the NKK M2042 (633-M2042SS1G03) 4PDT or M2022 (633-M2022SS1G03) DPDT. Board outputs are set up for either Molex 0.100 KK connectors, or you could use the pads as wirepads and solder the wiring in. I know Birgir has a balanced input jack board, but his is for including a pass-through connection, and not for balanced and SE. Any comments welcome.

  13. that's 3 terrific hockey games in a row in this series. I honestly don't care how the series turns out (ok, I do), but it's amazing hockey.

  17. The size of the heatsinks always reflects the difference between the raw DC off the rectifiers and the regulated voltage. The 2" sinks should be fine though.

  18. Not so much now, but when I was in London last week. Stretch treated me to one of the best meals I have had at Restaurant Story. We did the full Story tasting menu with drinks pairings. The pairings ranged from wine to beer to sake to cider, and were all gleefully presented by the sommelier. Apertifs of a beer for Stretch and a cocktail described as a clear, up version of a bloody mary. The vodka was infused with Worchestershire Sauce flavors, bitters and other mixes filled the tomato and spice roles. Very tasty, and Mike G would love them. The first two of four snacks that are not even on the menu. Fried cod skin with creme fraiche and juniper leaves, and Storeos that are cookies of squid ink paste and a fishy cream filling. Both tasty despite descriptions. Gifts from the Sea Bread and Drippings -- beef tallow candle and drippings for dipping with crusty break and veal tongue cubes. Onion, apple and Old Tom gin Scallops, cucumber and dill ash (the black cucumber balls are rolled in the ash) Off-menu brioche with butter/fois gras/truffle cake and some kind of veggie gelatin thing Heritage potato mash, asparagus and coal Herdwick's lamb three ways, sheep's yogurt and ramson. I started eating the lamb belly before taking the pic. Desserts were wild, with chocolate crumbles, frozen granitas with vegetable flavors, and creamy custards, including an oyster-flavored one. First up, was not on the menu and now I cannot recall what it was, other than delicious. Back on the menu, we have chocolate, oyster and lovage. The chocolates are crumbled and crunchy. The oyster is the white custardy dollop, and the lovage (leafy green) is a granita. Way tastier than you can imagine from that description. Lastly, we have almond and dill. Everything white is almond-flavored and everything green is dill-flavored. Sound horrid? Wrong again, it was amazing. Thanks again, Andrew. This was a treat and it was great catching up.
