I've been trying the Focal Spirit Classic at work from a Gilmore Lite fed by a Neko MKII DAC attached to a Squeezebox Touch. Maybe the sound isn't for me but I just can't get into it. I keep switching to my Alessandro MS-Pro. But then again, I've always been partial to that Grado sound. I can lend them to you if you'd like to check them out to see if they're your cup of tea. If they are, I can just sell them to you. As for the Audio Technica's, haven't listened to my ESW9 in a while. The pleather definitely shows its age. From memory, out of the Hifiman 801, this thing sounded pretty darn good for its price. I don't know if the problems I'm having with the Focal are due to synergy with the system though...

As for life expectancy of Windows 7, it would suck if it died soon given that a lot of financial corporations switched to Windows 7 after XP support dropped. No bank that I know of works with Windows 8. I'm sure there are exceptions somewhere... That said. I got used to Windows 8. And 8.1

Thanks, everyone! certainly was a different birthday than Im accustomed to! Girlfriend took me to a natural wildlife reserve, got to witness nature in action. Most impressive of all was seeing a small snake in a tree, and then an osprey came out of nowhere and snatched it right in front of our eyes... made me wish I had a good camera! That was most of the day, walking these trails and enjoying nature. Then had dinner with friends and family, always a nice time. Finished the day with some line dancing at a country bar! I definitely want to learn this now.

Decided to spend the long weekend with mom and dad. Out of the three sons (no daughters) I remain the single one, so it's easy for me to just spend a weekend here and not worry about other things. It's nice to see them happy when they know I am sleeping over a few nights. I don't understand it fully, as I am not a parent myself, but I'm sure the day will come when I become a dad, and then I will think "huh... so THAT's what they felt every time."

It's a Grado HP1000, isn't it... I know it is...
