  1. That is just fucking scary!
  2. I don't believe it's technically in her feedback thread. And this is also now an MOT feedback thread, which may be subject to different rules?
  3. Well either could be embarrasing on the top bunk.
  4. You can probably imagine that wooden headphone stands can be tricky to ship at times. I kind of go overboard with packaging sometimes, however now and then there's just nothing you can do to prepare. Case in point, I once sent a stand to Micah (RedLeader) in Torronto. The package was packed very well, but when he received it the base of the stand was cracked clean in half. The box was flattened, and tire print was clearly visible on the box. It looked to both of us like maybe a forklift tire. I had insured the package, and Micah told me he'd file the claim from his end, and not to worry. Well it really hurt my heart to see my work broken like that, so I went out to the shop and built a new base (luckily it was attached to the stand from the bottom with stainless screws). Micah was able to attach it in minutes on his end, and we were both happy in the end. My point is that shit can happen, but how in the hell anyone can send out a load of crap like that in the first place is beyond me. I love my stands! Some so much that I hate to let them go. If I ever get to the point where I don't feel that way I'll quit making them. Damn! No slack cut whatsoever! I applaud your resolve.
  5. Now that is pure win! I may just have to borrow that design.
  6. Is that a lighter Mike? Sweet design! I can remember getting my smoking material in a sandwich bag once or twice back in the day.
  7. DAMN IT! Have you all forgotten that Namaan and I have a future trade in the works? I'd appreciate it if you could bring yourselves to educate him on pricepoints after that transaction is complete!
  8. Yeah, there's no substitute for real booty sweat, mmm!
  9. I think I know who can handle MarkL's ad campaign for ADRENALINE cables... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YigJlyJt2U8]YouTube - Booty Sweat Energy Drink from Tropic Thunder[/ame]

Do you have a problem with educational TV?
  11. You can keep up with her?
  12. Welcome to the team Sherwood!
  13. Duggeh, you might also consider finding a used pair of NAD 2200 power amps. The 2200 in bridged mode is rated at 400 wpc. I used a pair of them to drive my old ESS AMT 1D speakers. Those are the ones with the big ass Heil transformer on top, and the 2200's were stable as a rock, with a shitload of power. They can be had quite cheap now. If an amp that old makes you nervous, there's the Emotiva route... Emotiva Audio XPA-2 Two Channel Power Amplifier
  14. Steve that really sucks!
  15. It's a strange, strange world! Sure the YH-100 can be a good headphone, but IMHO you came out on the very best end of that trade. I remember when you could find the YH-100 for sub $50.00.
  16. It's always so hard to lose a beloved pet. It always puts me in a funk for quite some time. Sorry about your loss.
  17. I guess you'd better get it right the first time then.

    Doggy thread

This is my buddy Fred... Fred is 1/2 Shih Tzu, 1/2 Lhasa Apso, so naturally I refer to him as a Lhasa ShihT. He is very intelligent, and a really great companion.
  19. Mmmm, that looks like a good start toward Eggs Benedict.
  20. I have heard Soundlabs in an audio store environment, and they were quite lovely. The reason I didn't recommend them is because they're usually pretty pricey, and they're damn hard to drive, as has been mentioned. If you can supply a grunty amp however I think you'd be very happy with them. Let us know what you think of them.

    Speaker Porn

Can't we all learn to live together? Those are stunning!
  22. Happy Birthday!
  23. While they're not true electrostats I'm going to have to agree with the Apogee recomendation, and in this country a good used pair is easy to find. And on that same line my next recommendation would be a used pair of larger Maggies. Through the last few decades I've heard Quad, Martin Logan, Sound Lab, Iminent Technology, Magnepan & Apogee. The Apogee and the Magnepans always just sounded right to me. It seems you're geared toward the Quads Douglas, but you really owe it to yourself to try and listen to the other offerings before making such a big decision. If buying used through A-gon or whatever site you may just be able to audition the speakers beforehand. Anyway that's my two cents worth.
  24. So the Denon AVR-1910 arrived today. I have a lot of reading and setup to do, but right out of the box (well after using the mic to automatically set all the speaker parameters) it sounds pretty damn good! And the HDMI cable is carrying audio and video. This seems like a really nice receiver. Things have gotten very complex since I last had a surround system (1987-89), so it may be a while before I'm getting everything out of this system. But just having Blu-ray play in 5.1 is a big step forward. Thanks for all the help guys! Fitz, wanna fly out and tune my system for me?

    WILD PACIFIC

I've been watching this on HD, and it's really good so far. This kind of programming really makes a 50" plasma worthwhile!
