Looks like the KGST MAY have some competition....... http://knob.planet.ee/amps/staxneb1/staxneb1.htm

transconductance amp
Surely this wouldn't stop anyine from building one anyway.. Think of the bragging rights. "My amp transconducts four times as much as yours - and it's balanced.........."

Expensive and/or raved-about headphones that actually suck!
You mean.... you keep a flagon or, perhaps, a magnum, or even a mason jar in your hand and over the shoulder....?

The Headcase Stax thread
I really like my SR-202. The dark side Stax thread is very good for comedy relief. You just need your senses of humour and sarcasm on full tilt. I heartily recommend the thread. Especially after watching an old western called Evil Roy Slade.

... and, you missed the Audio Technica ATH-W5000 Raffinato which has more HONK than a flock of flatulent geese.

Yeah, and "everyone" knows that ALL amps are "voiced" for a particular "house sound".

Some would contend that the SR-207 is better than the SR-507

The Multi Amp aka Dynalo Mk2
Does your Keithley work on 4 wire mode? Recommended for all resistances up to 10kilOhms. That's the most accurate method of measuring resistance as it compensates for the lead and contact resistances. You also should clean the multimeter lead sockets and lead connections with isopropyl alcohol and then use Deoxit on the connections. If the meter has a null function on the resistance ranges, you short the leads out and null the reading. That takes care of the lead resistance. Then you measure the resistor. Make sure the meter is on the right resistance range. I know that sounds silly, but it is an easy mistake to make, especially if your meter auto-ranges. Set the range manually. Hifiman Shangri-La, new Electrostatic
It was part of the steady state theory of the universe. Fred Hoyle was also a critic and coiner of the title "Big Bang Theory.

and now for something completely different part 3
Is this why Birgir is building something other than electrostatic amps..? From Mjolnir Audio on 17-01-2016 in the News section:- "Stay tuned soon for some crazy news such as me finally building some dynamic amplifiers and other madness… "

Hifiman Shangri-La, new Electrostatic
How can they charge more for having less diaphragm material..? Modern cosmology is retreating from the concept of singularities such as black holes, as it invalidates the concept of the indestructibility of information. The modern trend is away from nothing exploding and becoming the universe, and towards branes (membranes or dimensions) from different universes touching and causing an explosion of a new universe coming into existence. Even the "high priest of evolution" Richard Dawkins is suggesting life originated somewhere very remote from here and floated here over aeons and found the conditions amenable to propagation. This is the same concept of transpermia held by Hoyle and Wikramasinghe which was replaced by the Big bang.

krell ksa5 klone
Yep, some have put it in wine to raise the alcohol content. Not recommended. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1985_diethylene_glycol_wine_scandal http://www.nytimes.com/1986/04/16/garden/antifreeze-poison-found-in-10-wines.html Does that make your blood boil...?

grounded grid
I guess the point here is that an octet of NOS 6S4A's is still a lot cheaper than a quad of NOS EL34's. Once you pay for the larger board size and double the amount of tube bases and extra parts, you're ahead. Still, seems an exercise in futility to me if you're striving for "moar bettah".

Keep getting logged out of HC
I always clean out cookies after each session here. I log on from 3 different computers and still get thrown out if I click on any button except the back arrow button on my browser. If, say, I click on the forums button I get throw out. If I re-log in I have to log in again on the next page that shows up. If I am thrown out, and hit the browser's back arrow, I return to the previous page and am returned to my logged-in again status. Also, sometimes when I access the forums page to look at the status of the different forums, before I log in, I see some recent posts like in the DIY section that were posted up to a few hours ago. When I log in to look at those threads, I don't see any posts from the last 12-or-so hours. When I look at the forums page again, they are still there, but not when I access those threads, until after i have shuffled back and forth a few times.
