The Quad thread
I would be all over those, but don't really trust someone with so little feedback. But Aleph 2 sounds like a great idea (bonus I liked my Aleph 30), I always thought these were 50 watts or something. I will keep my eyes out for them. How much power would dual mono F5s put out (not the Turbo)? About 60 watts into 4 ohms? Nate- I was not a big fan of a couple of vintage Krell amps I've heard and probably not worth the effort to drive down there for a limited audition.

The analog thread.
I have to say I am very pleased with the Spacedeck/Zyx pairing. I guess there was something not quite all the way there with the Scout that made me want to upgrade. I've made it through about a a third of my jazz collection and it's definitely the highest resolution source I've had in my home.

Do you think 60 watts would be sufficient? Looks like they are around $6000 used, just a bit out of my budget though I'd consider them in the future. Something more like $2000-3000 used is probably my budget.

Reminds me I have to message postjack and Kent. Any more recommendations for amps for the ESL63 (commercial only)?

What are you listening to Part the Third
It's from a box set that takes from Miles Davis' output from 1965-1968. It's my favorite Miles box set since that is my favorite time period of jazz; when there was more modal improvisation and original compositions versus just rehashing the old standards.

Kevin are you able to do silver? I have no clue about the properties of the metal and whether or not it's feasible. Just looked at latest trading prices, gold has exceeded the price of platinum (since the Indian currency is more or less worthless when compared to any modern foreign standard like the Euro or USD; ie you can not convert Rupee to USD, but you can do it the other way around, my parents/relatives usually purchased gold ingot and deposited them safe boxes rather than investing in the Indian stock market)

A Bay Area Meet on 2-11-12.
It is seen as a mark of distinction. When we were first years in anatomy lab a few people made the mistake of calling retired surgeons "Dr" only to have the wrath unleashed upon them Ah that wiki article points to my alma matar

Nice diagnosis Mr Torpedo (are surgeons Mr in Spain or Dr?), this is why I defer all anatomical/surgical questions to him

The Headcase Stax thread
Leonardo another phone to consider is the Stax SR-Omega. Birgir seems to have nailed down the issue of the driver failure and how it can be prevented. It has a brighter tonality compared to the SR-007 mk1. It is not too bright though, as I dislike upper mid/treble heavy phones myself but I feel the SR-Omega has a nice balance. The imaging isn't as precise as the 007. But it has a larger euphonic soundstage like the HE90. I have not heard the SR-009.

The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret
This is a brilliant comedy and one of the best I can recall seeing. Unfortunately I don't think many people in the US have heard about it. The show stars David Cross, Will Arnett, Spike Jonez (and a couple of surprise celebrity appearances I won't ruin). It is based around David Cross who is a pathological liar and is sent to England for a temporary job assignment that goes horribly wrong. There are only two seasons, with a total of 12 episodes and the series is now concluded. http://en.wikipedia....f_Todd_Margaret Trailer (though I think it gives away a bit too much) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6NgB7Vy_9c

If you can attend a WRC rally do go. One of the more fun events (sporting or otherwise) I've been to.

- New Members - How did you discover Head-Case?
Ah the good old days when Head-Case truly was the wild west, the mods were Will Munny and hungrych was ... hungrych (never forget)- The analog thread.
Good to know, thank you. My max budget is $500 a pair. Beyond that I'd rather have a better phono stage with more gain.- New Members - How did you discover Head-Case?
Things not to do: bumping 2-3 year old threads unless you really think you're adding to the discussion- The analog thread.
The 3440AH blue and 1131 are available for DIY'ers. If the Partridge doesn't work out I'm tempted to try the Jensen transformers next since Allnic uses them in their phono-stages. (removed the Cinemag comment regarding the company) - Deals
