  1. Not only is HC informative, but entertaining to boot. You guys are hilarious. But where's the dedicated Pico impressions thread? Nice pic of the orange Pico, thrice.
  2. Congrats! You've been chosen. Hope everything works out for the best.
  3. Wow, Brian. You're pretty peppy for 106! We need to work on a mini-meet because Big Poppa got a loaner Rudistor amp.
  4. May the warmth of your tubes warm your hearts in 2008. Happy New Year! Here's a toast to Head-Case.org and its future success.
  5. Yikes! I guess I've been lucky so far -- no problems buying or selling across the border. I guess this is why sellers often specify US only. BTW, I've only used USPS EMS for shipping to Cananda.
  6. Have you read TNT Audio's review of the FMJ CD36? Care to provide your take on the reviewer's comments in general?
  7. When making my first Audiogon purchase, the seller told me that it is the standard practice on Audiogon for buyers to pay the 3% paypal fee (this was not mentioned in the ad). Is this true?
  8. For me, 2007 was more about attitude adjustment and hi-fi education than changing gear. For reference, December 2004 was the beginning of my entry into the hi-fi world. 2007 was the year I finally realized that portable amps don't offer the same performance as desktop amps. Yeah, I know. I'm a little slow and stubborn. Now, I usually only power the ER4S with my portable amps, and don't use portable amps in a stationary setting. 2007 was the year that I truly began appreciating how good DIY amps are. Nugget Audio β22 kicks ass. 2007 was the year I discovered vinyl and how good it sounds. While the convenience of digital is undeniable, in terms of sound quality, digital isn't the end-all, be-all.
  9. Nate, I'm pretty sure I read a post where you said the SB3 was an average transport at best. I've been thinking of getting one (still kicking myself for missing out on tyrion's). Have you ever compared the SB3 to the CD73 for transport duties? I'm currently using my iRiver H140 with my VDA-2, but it's not a good transport. The iRiver SlimX sounds better as a transport than the H140 (ALAC files).
  10. Wow, Brian. You always seemed to be a very easy going guy, easy to get along with. Your sister-in-law must really be something to rile you up like this. I'm fortunate that we have good people on both sides.. well, there is one slightly annoying person... my wife's oldest sister's husband thinks he's all that, but if you humor him, he's pretty harmless.
  11. mid-2005: socrates63 reads posts by Elephas. Wow, this guy seems to have similar tastes as me and sounds like a nice guy. I should listen to him. Elephas thinks ATH-W5000 sound awesome. I need one, too. Elephas says ATH-AD2000 is the best dynamic headphone he's heard (and he's heard a lot). I need one, too. And then Elephas goes crazy and starts buying buttloads of high ticket and rare items. My wallet dies from shock. And now the Aristaeus? Congrats, but what was I thinking when I thought I could mimic some of your purchases? You're awesome, man. Keep posting the head-fi p0rn. So, when's that next give-away? I think the last one was for the Cardas RCA caps, right? Yeah, you really need to give away the Chord DAC. Don't you know? The Azur 840c is it right now.
  12. An hour and forty-five minutes and this is with a snow blower? Shites! Damn, Nate. Everytime I see pics of your place, it's so picturesque. Sorry about the snow though . As for Seattle? It's raining in the city and the suburbs. Only recently has been there been heavy snow accumulation in the mountains. Most of the ski resorts recently opened but aren't able to operate all their lifts yet.
  13. Tony, based on your post in the livewire thread, I take it that by "thin skin" you mean the ER4S still sounds still. In some respects, yes, I agree with you. The new cable does not alter the basic sonic signature of the ER4.
  14. yeah, this is what I'm afraid of as well This photo reminds me of what my first son said a few months ago when we visited our friends at the hospital when their son was born. My son tells me to go and buy a baby for our family. So, what's the Amazon link to order a baby girl?
  15. Congrats, Elephas. I wish you lived in Seattle... well, maybe not. I don't need more temptation to buy rare high-end cans. Just curious, have you attended headphone meets in Taiwan?
  16. Have you tried the HD25-1? How do you think they compare? I tried the ESW9 briefly during last month's Seattle meet, and didn't like it much. I seem to gravitate towards airier, brighter cans, and the ESW9 didn't seem to fit the bill. But then again, it was during meet conditions and I didn't give it much time.
  17. Can you clarify what you mean by the smaller and larger versions of the W5000?
  18. That thrice guy has an eye for eye candy and design. I thought my M3 looked pretty cool, but this new enclosure is very snazzy. Now that I've brought home my Nugget Audio β22, I'm finally getting some ear time with it and I've been very impressed.
  19. looks so damn cool is right I've only seen photos of Craig's amps and the Moth Audio gear, but damn do they look good.
  20. Buy.com lists it as $85. I guess I missed out.
  21. Hehe, if you're seriously interested, PM me and I'll give you a deal on mine. I want to order a longer one.
