Happy birthday, Peter!

Forza Horizon 3 got patched on PC Friday and now I can recommend it without qualification. You guys need to let Santa know that this is on your list this holiday season. There is also a demo out for it but I think the demo is only available on Xbox One. FH3 is more arcade-y than PCars, but damn is it ever fun. I just bought a WRX and raced in a WRX vs. Evo showdown. Squee!

On SHM SACD. ? I think this is my favorite album of theirs. The first three tracks are just dynamite. I really like Mark's guitar lines here. His lyrics aren't bad either.

There aren't separate versions anymore. Buy it once Xbox or PC and you can play on the other as well with your microsoft/xbox-live account. The same also applies to Forza Horizon 3.

Congrats on the big award this week, Bob!

^ So how does your situation work at a UK national living in the US? Do you still get to vote by mail-ballot?

Played through the prologue and Act 1 last night in a co-op campaign with a friend on Hard difficulty. So. Much. Fun. The game looks and runs perfect on PC. Finally, a DX12 game done right. I can't wait to keep playing this weekend. If anyone else picks this up, hit me up and lets all join up for some Horde-Mode multiplayer. I believe the game is cross-platform and that PC players and Xbox One players can play together. My Xbox Live Tag is "T Money 58"

RIP to the King of Thailand. Anyone who has ever been to Thailand or even eaten at a Thai restaurant (every one I've ever been to has hung his portrait) knows how much the Thai people loved their king. He was a modern, progressive, stabilizing force. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/14/world/asia/thai-king-bhumibol-adulyadej-dies.html

I've got holds on the e-books for both at the library, just waiting for the people who have them to turn them back in. Being able to use my library membership to check out e-books from home and download them to my kindle is pretty damn sweet.

Worst meltdown since Chernobyl. Congrats, Cubs fans.

The first book was much better written than I expected. The attention to detail was staggering. I just never really got sucked in to it.

Master & Commander It is very good and quite entertaining. I can see why people love this series, but it is a little to much for me. I'm just not quite interested enough in the subject matter to want to continue into the other books. If you sail or have a love of sailing though, I'd consider this a must-read. 4/5.

Astro, please stop now and save yourself the embarrassment.

Episode 2 is stream-able on HBOGo already. Wow. This show already has me hooked.

Speaking of Oculus, Michael Abrash's presentation at the end of the Oculus Connect keynote yesterday was very, very cool. His talk was about what VR will look like in 5 years. There is amazing stuff in the pipeline. Link to the VOD below: https://www.twitch.tv/oculus/v/93337462?t=01h28m25s If you are at all interested in VR and where it is going this is must-watch stuff. Abrash is also a very good public speaker.

I tried 1 last night and the patch seems to have basically fixed the issues most had been having. It was very playable.

I tried to listen to it last night. With Black Francis' voice long since gone and no Kim Deal I can't say I liked it that much. Listened to half of it and then switched to Bossanova. Much better!

Stereophile review of Utopia. They got it pretty much right as far as I am concerned. The Utopias are a bit of a devining rod. A lukewarm or negative review of them tells me more about the reviewer than anything. I still feel guilty about buying another expensive headphone, but boy do they ever sound fantastic. Apologies for potato-quality screenshots from my phone.

^ is it any good?

Great first episode! I'm excited to see where they go with it.

Congrats to you both!

My favorite album of theirs. I've probably heard it 50 times by now and it never gets old.
