  1. I have two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Which headphone should I get Tyll?
  2. I'm not sure if the current needed to drive dynamic let alone IEM type headphones is sufficient to cause an electric shock in an ear. Hmm... Maybe he experienced some kind of a static electricity discharge?
  3. And I thought that only anacondas are long and strong! Seems like good kit from Beezar. I'll wait for some impressions from around here until I pull the trigger. Also by that time my wallet will recover after Christmas. P.S. I like the layout! Long amps let me save on cables!
  4. THOSE EYES! Now I remember!
  5. Still a week until I get to some nice bacon. I like Iceland but I really hate the food that is sold here at the supermarket.
  6. I guess that the beer pressure and the rate of freezing must reach some magical ratio. And that surely is a win, sure beats cleaning brown sticky snow from all the frozen stuff.
  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0hS1Aw1K30 Proud to be Latvian.
  8. I'd say that the key word this time might be- "believe".
  9. What do these boxes do? Looks like some kind of resistors for impedance or something. Well, if you jam more of them on a cable you can actually save on cable stands!
  10. Well, marketing headphones as luxury jewelry is pretty convenient- saves them from objective arguments about sound quality. Then again I had pretty high hopes for AKG, they are German after all.
  11. The additional enclosures shield against neutrino particles.
  12. Fuji X100 seemed a bit too idiosyncratic to me. A great capable camera but too hampered by some clumsy design decisions. UI wise mostly. Also I don't understand why they decided to implement focusing-by-wire.
  13. I have some reservations about the M3/4 while others might not and therefore I too recommend the Nex. And.
  14. Russians have beer? The only beer I would call traditionally Russian is the cheapest one you can get and mixed with copious amount of vodka. Пиво без водки, как паспорт без фотки! (Beer without vodka is like passport without a photo.)
  15. Thanks a bunch! The funny thing is that it all started as an innocent idea to try out the velour pads.
  16. Maybe they need a good vandalization once in a while to increase the lifespan?
  17. Took apart one driver of the HD25-II with a kitchen knife and nail clippers, because I had a suspicion that some crud in the connector is responsible for signal loss when moving the jack. So far so good. However when I replaced one of the springs that provide the connection I caught the small wire that goes to the voice coil... Luckily it broke just at the solder point. I was contemplating about heating the knife up on a stove for some field soldering but then I remembered that I still haven't got anything conductive that I could melt for soldering. Besides snow, that is. So bread and pastries it is, tomorrow.
  18. I think that Thor is a common name in Iceland. The guy who fed me this: was also called Thor, 2 meters tall with long blonde hair! Great work on the faceplate, Birgir!
  19. *Switching information output to: ass* I would not like to judge a book by its cover... But take a look at that soldering: I don't know about the whole DAC husbandry at Audio GD, but that Ref 7.1 seems like a pretty flagshippy product. Call me conservative but if that kind of soldering can go through the QC of a high-end DAC... Let's just say that it would make me to think twice about getting something from these guys. *Reset information output to default. Audiophile databanks: inaccessible*

Well, refurbs seem to go for 220$, so it's not a bad deal. At that price point not much that can beat them performance wise.

Same here, the current price is 259.99$.
  22. Now I will plague you with pleads of setting up an audition until the 21st of December when my plane leaves to Latvia. Brace yourself!
  23. Phew, today was the last lecture day in this semester. Now only a 10 page 48h exam and 3X10 page projects... Oh, happy day! Happy Thanksgiving to whom it may concern.
  24. Maybe that's a rating for 300Ohms, but yeah- Burson has really ascetic specs page. Don't know about the HA-160DS, but I remember HA-160/160D putting about a watt in 32Ohms. And reports are that it plays well with orthos.
