  1. This is so sad. Last time when something like that happened in Latvia the minister of internal affairs resigned. The media chewed him up for the fucking fun of it.
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoJb35OeHQA&feature=related Str8 from the street yo.
  3. ^^ My face when playing IL-2 Sturmovik. Getting a good (cockpit, engine) shot from 30m while you and your opponent are moving at 300mph- this is the only face that describes that feeling, regardless of gender.
  4. Finally- a cloud break! Though I'm not sure if InnerFidelity is a site for audiophiles, more like for people who value an informed opinion.
  5. More like a power supply that doesn't need plugging in, ever.
  6. That white toilet paper doesn't go too well with the brown zebra wood. But I think that there's a mod for that.
  7. Bah, hydrogen peroxide isn't that poisonous- I've seen it being used to induce vomiting. Also not sure if it can be stored in concentrations high enough to kill someone.
  8. I don't know then, maybe it's the refresh rate then or something... And e-ink has the battery life advantage.
  9. Same here- I need to read a lot of stuff and LCD's are really rough on my eyes. And when I'll decide to sear my eyes out, I might opt for a Samsung tablet with one of those HD AMOLED screens.
  10. When shooting my D300 on VIVID in bright conditions I always dial in -0.7EV compensation, if too dark I can always rescue the shadows. I think that little overexposure on some conditions is always plaguing Nikon.
  11. Any idea what's with all the Zanas coming up for sale at the other forum? Funding for the Super 7, I guess...
  12. Damn, that doesn't seem too professional on their side. Especially considering that these tripods are mostly used by quite serious people. If they want to play with the big guys quality product is not enough- precision logistics also come in play when doing pro photography.
  13. Yeah, I'm with others wishing you a fast recovery! Meanwhile in Reykjavik- I'm making a Latvian dinner for my flatmates to celebrate the day of Latvian Independence. Potato pancakes with onions and mushrooms! And a glass of Cuba Libre to keep the spirit merry in these dark times.
  14. Finally got my HD25-II, would not say that I like them more than my SR80i, though these are much more convenient. The guy I bought from went really crazy with the packaging- everything was basically floating in paper strips. They could have dropped the box from a plane and it would have landed safe! Now back to brain-burn-in process...
  15. To be honest, apart from romantic portrait shots I didn't find the DC lenses (especially the 105mm) all too useful. For low light the 85mm f/1.4 did okay and above that there's the bang for buck giant- 80-200mm f/2.8D. And if I really need shallow dof, I always whip out my old 6X6. A casual snapshot, this one. Also need to get that shutter curtain fixed.
  16. Well, canon has the 135mm f/2.8 Soft Focus which seem to produce a similar effect, however other than that overall performance is lower than Nikon DC lenses. To be sure I kinda miss the time when Nikon was the final frontier of optical design. Seems that nowadays my favorite in terms of innovation is Sony. A pitty that they won't/can't make decent non-retrofocal ultrawides for the NEX system. Zeiss/Cosina must have older rangefinder designs which can at least be updated with modern coatings.
  17. I have used the 135DC and 105DC, really swell glass for portraits. All in all I couldn't justify getting one when for 800$ I can buy a 80-200 f/2.8D. Now my sights are set on a 300mm f/2.8 Ai ED. Some old hunting friend of my grandfather wants to sell it to me for 400$ together with a 2X converter.
  18. That's no double post! That's a deca-post! I once did that with a printer.
  19. I think that I've seen a bigger difference between two LCD-2's.

Not sure about the P&S. It shouldn't be too bad, for P&S I mostly trust Canon. The new ones have really good low light capabilities and optics are quite good. Most importantly- they are very small. No use buying a small sensor in a large camera.
  21. It's a pity that old SNL skits are really hard to find in decent quality. And we might organizing another (less sausagey) trip to that spot, should be incredible to be there in a snowstorm. Too bad that snow is really scarce in Reykjavik these years. Also I'll bring some kind of gloves next time, today I realized that I have cut my hands on these rocks. There was one moment when a larger wave picked me up (turns out I'm more buoyant than I thought) and started to wash me into the ocean with the back draft so I had to hold on really hard to one of these porous rocks. Anyways- if someone of y
  22. Yeah, too bad that my gf is in Latvia. And some of the places we went were quite dangerous, these lava fields can have really sharp edges and not to say that I don't have confidence in the fairer sex- I would not like to take any chances. Magnus actually did manage to fall down and cut his chin and hands on them. Other than that it was great fun, next time well try to wear some sandals or something that doesn't slip too much. Ideally one would wear climbing shoes or something like that. Here's a picture that should give you an idea what I'm talking about. And now imagine what a bad fall w
