  1. Thanks Beefy. I'll go with 0.1 mm over on diameter, and do the recess at 0.5mm.
  2. For these, if machining a front panel with a 1-1.5mm recess for the outer bezel, would you have the cavity cut at the datasheet size (22 or 25 mm), or would you add a bit to this dimension? The eSwitch datasheets show a tolerance for the overall body, but not for the bezel.
  3. Watching Yellowjackets (Showtime). Kind of a cross between Lost and Lord of the Flies. I kind of like it. Girls HS soccer team supposed to go to nationals in 1996. Private plane they are on crashes. Most survive, and aren't found for nearly 2 years. 20 years later catching up with those who made it out. Something bad happened out there... but no one is talking.
  4. Happy Birthday Bryan!
  5. Missed this one from earlier in the year - Tim Bogert, bass player for Vanilla Fudge/Cactus. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/vanilla-fudge-bassist-tim-bogert-dead-obit-1114424/ #FuckCancer
  6. Happy belated Birthday!
  7. Happy Birthday JP!
  8. I always preferred oval pads on TO-92s to the standard miniature round pads that most board layout software seems to use, including what Kevin uses. Define your own footprint in KiCad? EDIT: and I'll need to preface this with the fact that I've never listened to a real Krell KSA-5 before, but I don't seem to understand the attraction to this amp versus Kevin's designs, particularly the CFP2/3, but even the SS Dynalo or Dynahi?
  9. I'm sorry for your loss Steve.
  10. Happy Birthday!
  11. I've been doing some reading, and the Systemdek IIX seems kinda interesting, if I could find one with a better arm than the stock ones. I bought (traded for) a Project RPM5-1, and I don't know if it is the cartridge (Ortofon 2M Bronze) or what, but it seems a bit bright and lightweight in sound. Otherwise, I was thinking about something like a VPI Classic? I need to get my Thorens TD-320 out of storage, and see what that is like these days with the Salas phono stage I built. It has a newish AT 440ml(a?) on it, but I've never heard it with a decent phono stage. I also had bought a Grace F9e which I had wanted to try out on it.
  12. Happy Birthday Chris!
  13. Happy Birthday!
  14. Happy Birthday Mikey!
  15. I thought my then-girlfriend (now wife) was going to rip my bicep out when we saw the Exorcist. She won't watch scary movies anymore...
  16. Were the toasted ones drawing the same current? If they are SumR, I'd send them back, with these pics and a good label shot of the 13 yr old one that works. I would think Richard would stand behind his work.
  17. My condolences Todd. RIP Ann. EDIT: We were supposed to go to Iowa this week for Lori's small private funeral, but on Wednesday, before we were going to leave, Beth got a call from the school nurse where she works and was told that she had been exposed to COVID on Monday and Tuesday. After calling Lori's husband, he preferred that we didn't come, as he is susceptible (Polio), and Lori's mother ('90s) would be there, so we didn't. No symptoms here, and the positive COVID test was one of the the OTC ones. We haven't heard what the results of the lab test were yet.
  18. Agreed. The 16G/256G at $899 was what I was looking at. Paying Apple another $200 to go to 512G SSD is a bit much, as the Samsung external is less for a 1T. Just concerned as far as usability, i.e. moving Documents to a different drive, etc.
  19. The only M1 refurb is the base 8G/256G model.
  20. Thinking about buying an M1 Mini to replace my 2012 i7 Mini. I'm assuming that neither the RAM or internal drive are user replaceable? If so, thinking about going internal 256G SSD and 16Gb RAM ($899) plus an external Samsung 1T SSD for $139? Sound reasonable?
  21. ^This, and I'd return the replacement ones that didn't meet spec and get my money back. Much better than the excoriating review... that can come after you get your money back.
  22. My wife's best friend (and a friend of mine as well), Lori Nelson, passed away Friday. We all went to school in music together. She was a character; droll, snarky and funny, sort of like her favorite comedian, Steven Wright. She will be missed. Fuck cancer.
  23. You can have boards run for quite cheap at places like seeedstudio, etc. Upload the zip of the gerbers, make your selections, etc. and you're good.
  24. The Gerbers for Kevin's attenuator board are still available. I believe Kerry had worked up a controller board with rotary attenuator for that as well, including the software? One control that looks good and has good reviews is the Muses72320. I'm currently (very slowly) building a UGS Muse preamp based on the Pass UGS and using the NJR MUSES72320V-TE2-ND IC. There is a project on diyaudio using these chips and apparently can handle up to an 8 channel control. https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/swap-meet/322983-muses-volume.html. The chips seem to be in short supply right now (both Digikey and Mouser carry them, both out of stock).
  25. Happy Birthday Marc!
