From experience, you really want to limit soldering on these. The pins are 2.5mm x 0.4mm. I should be able to create a pad with a slot to fit those. Caveat: I've never tried doing that Here is the board so far with just the 4CP-601 on it, no labeling or anything. Inputs on R, Outputs on L:

Keeping it the same would mean supporting both pots, wouldn't it? Oh wait, I hadn't seen the mention of the CP2500 series. Those might be a problem as far as the pins go, as I thought they were solder lug (at least the ones I have are), and not really designed for PCB mount? I'll dig up the datasheet.

That one has both the RK27 and 4CP on it. Did you want one with only the 4CP pot on it? From the one above, the Phoenix connectors will dominate size-wize. Also, if minimum board size is desired, did you want it done like Birgir's so the pot sits up off the board, partially on the Phoeinx connectors? I would guess the Molex KK connectors will fit just fine regardless.

I took my Raleigh RRA (irreplaceable) back to Iowa a couple of years ago on my Bones 2 at 80+ mph (300 miles each way). No problems, other than you have to tighten up the straps after a few miles. Sure a hitch rack is probably better, if you get the hitch mount installed properly, etc.

Interesting discussion, and you (mypasswordis, sorry can't remember your real name) can articulate much more than I can regarding consonance/dissonance. I heard the U of I Percussion Ensemble perform a Xenakis piece years ago for a PAS Iowa convention thing when I was in school. The hall must have matched Xenakis' design because I could have sworn I was hearing synthesizers (as in ELP), as in a "wow-wow" moving around the hall. All from acoustic drums placed in the balcony at strategic intervals around the hall. Stockhausen: hehe, pretty much the wildest shit I've ever heard. In music theory classes, where I heard the Stockhausen and other 12 tone pioneers, we did an analysis of Wagner, Parsifal (my screen name), Overture. From what I recall, 300 bars or so where you could kind of glimpse key(s), but couldn't nail it down. A lot of step-wise movement in the piece, moving from key to key, starts here, comes out there, but in between? Very "tonal" sounding piece of music as well. Question: how much do alternate tonalities fuck with people who have perfect pitch (i.e., my mother among them)? I'm sure this is tied somewhat to the tonality system that they are accustomed to. Add to that Baroque tunings, etc.

Good advice Nate. I hadn't thought about that, but maybe in recasing it you inadvertently made contact with one of the standoffs or something. Measuring all the inputs to ground should find if that is true or not. Might also ohm them to chassis.

Check resistance on the inputs of the PS board (both for each winding input 1-2, 3-4) as well as to ground. Shorts (near 0 ohms) would be what you are looking for. Post pictures of the board. You didn't drop something onto the board that could cause a short when you were recasing it? I attached a schematic of the original dynahi PSU in case you don't have one.

You'll get a tighter match to the ideal resistance curve of the attenuator. Whether it will be audible or not, doubtful. 0.1% should be good enough. Some might say using the naked Vishay s102/z102 would be the best (and most expensive), but I don't think these are available in surface mount.
