The Headcase Stax thread
Before digging at it and risking damaging it, you might consider taking them to a jeweler. They deal in very small screws, etc. all the time and probably can deal with your screw.

How many months has John been in CA? Just take that number and divide it by 3.

My 6F8G -> 6SN7 adapter is bad! Assistance?
Then again, you could smash them with a hammer and buy the adapters that Earl is using in his SP amps.

What did you do today?
I'm surprised that you didn't make him an MDF or plywood stand after that comment. What did he want, an ebony stand?

How does a beta22 compare to tubes?
Actually, I think that Jacob is saying that they are different. Since you're getting a β22 soon you'll be able to compare for yourself. Of course, you will only be comparing it to one tube amplifier and what you hear may or may not translate to other tube amps.

A horrible quest begins
The RS1s had flats. My ears must be more sensitive to treble than yours. Ah, so that's why you must get a Grado.

Q&A: Microsoft defends return to DRM
I suspect that the marketing guy answering the questions here will be one of the 5000 that Microsoft will let go. Either that or made a VP. I think that Microsoft could be very successful in this market space. However, they need to get some knowledgeable people and come up with a revolutionary idea instead of just copying ideas that were big 5 years ago.

Any Grado c pad impressions around here?
If the clamping force is greatly reduced, then the foam is much less of a problem too.

Any Grado c pad impressions around here?
It's easy to make Grados comfortable. Just have the new guy wear them for a couple of months. Then the headband will be stretched out enough that the clamping force will be greatly reduced. It worked really well for my HP2. Of course, if you have a big head you're on your own.

A horrible quest begins
That's why I suggested that you listen to it and decide for yourself. Deciding that you won't like a headphone without hearing it is not very different from deciding that it's great without hearing it. Try to give it a listen. The results may surprise you. It's funny, I don't like the RS1 very much. I find it's treble to be "piercing". This was from listening to jp#'s vintage RS1 being driven by a top-notch source and amp. After listening to that, I figured I must hate the Grado sound. Then I tried an HP1 at a meet. What a difference! I really liked them. I've since tried HP2 and PS1 phones. Now I know that it's the John Grado sound I don't like. My main headphone now is an HP2. I'm sure glad I tried the HP1.

Making a Silver APC Black
It's probably a simple supply and demand thing. The supply was probably similar to the black model but the demand was much lower. You were quite smart to save and not worry about the color.

He's much worse than dubious. Search HF for threads containing waddragon and it will soon become obvious. I wouldn't trust him further than I could toss him.

A horrible quest begins
I love my HP2s, but I seriously suggest listening to a Senn HD800 before setting your heart on getting an HP2. I would if I were buying today.
