Unless you have perfect math and tolerances, leaving some extra room in the panel bearing might be a good idea. You can go a bit bigger and the nut (not to mention the knob) will cover it up.

I probably have $1K in the Ball and more like $1400 in the Sinn. Have boxes and all paperwork for each. I would go down a bit as I am getting a good deal on their replacement. Also willing to let anyone inspect them on loan. More looking for interest (enablement) as I am out if the country and the Sinn is getting serviced in Germany.

They seem much more efficient to me. Ironically, the higher heat might help stability a bit as hfe rises with junction temperature and there are some places where the hfe of the transistors seem important. As KG said, surely some transistors were matched and hand-picked, but that process has been lost to the ages. Also depends on what height you pick, obviously. You aren't bound to the same height the original used and a bit more height will allow you to center items on the panels if that's important to you. Just checked the weather in thailand. Going to be rocking 100 degree differential. It was minus teens this morning.

So, what's up with PA these days? Seems to be stalling a bit. I noticed that the OTA updates for my S3 (ATT) seem to be unavailable, presumably because the maintainer isn't doing their job. I like it a lot so far, but unsure what the future looks like. Perhaps I'm missing something?
