  1. I believe he has a "crib" there.
  2. Huge difference between -15 and 15
  3. DC heater with like 1VAC ripple might be proprietary. AC-DC heaters ?
  4. Car wouldn't start today. Battery was too cold. The issue was it was blocking the car that was in the garage. Said frozen car wouldn't shift into neutral either. So, sorta held the shifter down and shoved it towards N and it would kinda move assuming lots of pressure in the shifter.. So, backed one car into the other to help move it and an Austin Powers esque scene ensued trying to get the one car out around the other car. Finally after some slight damage and blocking the street for a good while, was able to jump said frozen car. Yeah. It was not fun.
  5. Would be fun to populate the four outputs and the input and see how high you can get THD+N. I bet you could do 5%.
  6. So much snow fail today
  7. Shit?
  8. Hard to describe why this is the case, but they ran out of places to put the snow where I live. Heh. Also I inflicted what felt like someone slamming my hand in a door by not wearing gloves for like 5 minutes and shoveling snow. Ouch.
  9. Sweet! Boxwood is the only one I have seen and it was beautiful.
  10. So that part is like an ebony extension?
  11. Yeah, that.
  12. That is possible here that it is a way to dry the wood, but it was done with hazardous chemicals and definitely used to beautify the material. The term is fumed and I am pretty sure there isn't much heat applied, if any. Hence the appeal to the woodworker and chemist
  13. Question for the Dr's Wood and Gilmore. Ever heard of "fumed wood"? I was at a luthier (violinmaker) yesterday and started talking wood and she showed me some beautiful fumed boxwood. I am not sure what they used hundreds of years ago in terms of chemicals (nitric oxide?), but this seemed like a very cool Gilmore knob concept Glad to cover prototype costs and I have a feeling Kevin could come up with something super unique.
  14. Similar. I have no idea what alternate reality I have stepped into. We are not in Texas anymore.
  15. Yes. Please include your whisky collection in the picture.
  16. Took the family to see the U-boat at the science museun. Pretty cool. Hanging back at the hotel relaxing...
  17. Are these like Ultrasone rebooted?
  18. I have this one and it works well: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812552001
  19. No idea. What about a mechanical relay?
  20. Oh and lol that KG's schematic of Cavalli's amp is in the references section..
  21. Yup. I disagree that the KGSS is over complicated. It is a very elegant circuit. Simple circuits have their place though, but not in a 'stat amp, from what I have seen.
  22. Needs more plankton.
  23. SSRs don't like inductive loads. The results are transformers that buzz. There were a few threads somewhat acknowledging the issue but in the end, whether the relay is zero - crossing or rated to 50x the needed current, removing the SSR results in quieter transformers. Just use a normal relay, there are only drawbacks to SSRs and no benefits.
  24. Cool So I am down to only one beef with amb.org. Recommending SSRs. I am going to put a community service project out to remedy this soon.
