The ultimate DIY? A Stax SRM-T2!
That makes sense. TL;DR version: With a 10K pot you have a cut-off frequency of 80kHz-160kHz, depending on pot rotation and time constant of 2ms-1ms. I find 0.5ms-1.5ms to be inaudible, and 1-2ms is acceptable. With a 50K pot and 10K, you get -3dB at 26kHz worst case, and 6ms group delay. In my opinion, this is suboptimal, and I'd consider reworking the values if I had a source wimpy enough to not use a 10K pot.

The ultimate DIY? A Stax SRM-T2!
Kevin/Birgir: Is the 10K series resistor on the input from the original T2 (which used a 10K pot) or was it changed to reflect the 50K pot on the schematic?

I have. Also, queue Shelly that I don't listen to music, I like to watch waveforms. I am actually providing a useful datapoint for you. If you like "musical" you will probably dislike anything I like, as tastes seem to obey transitivity laws. I would not recommend you try Stax, for example. Stating the negative can often be a positive thing.

My experience with the term "musical" is the popular usage almost always means I wont like it. So, seems an apt usage.

My concern with the bracket as you propose it would be if the transformers have any buzzing it would get amplified due to the arrangement...

T2 knob turning
The Teflon tape seems to be working. The problem is that it isn't super durable even after 10 or so layers it took to get the right diameter. It worked perfectly for a bit and now has slight rattle.. it's like the tape is compressing with use. I will leave it for now I guess...

Seems a bit much. I think I will try Teflon tape first. I will report back.

T2 knob turning
I have a bit of rattle in my knob and was wondering if anyone had a solution (… stares at swt61 …) I am using the Keystone panel bearing which seems to be comfortable with a 0.25" shaft and measuring that same shaft on my micrometer is amazingly 0.250". The shaft of the knob is 0.240", so we're talking about a 5mil gap. Ideas: some sort of adhesive teflon or even teflon tape? heat shrink (probably a dumb idea) some part buried at mcmaster-carr that fits the bill perfectly?
