  1. 's'truth. I have a tendency to do that about everything. People call it me getting, 'bubbly'. Mostly with music, but yes, about everything. Which is why, when I catch myself, I try to tone it down. Which, on this forum, is as easy as typing up a whole post, then deleting it. Then I still get that catharsis without being ...while being slightly less annoying. I really should write reviews of music reproduction equipment. 'cause that's what they want. Ad copy. I revert to my natural form.
  2. No, we don't mind you posting, just don't post horseshit. And certainly don't regurgitate others' opinions, reviews, and (mostly) horseshit -- come up with your own opinions, and descriptive terms. And don't fall for snake oil, yourself. And play with positioning and with ampage -- IIRC, AKG's weren't that sensitive to the amps that drove them (although they did scale a little), but the home (non-pro-orientated ones) were pretty sensitive to positioning on the head.
  3. Allow me to be the first: I call
  4. I might need to find that, but for now I was put in a Jethro Tull mood by someone on Facebook, so it's been a Jethro Tull kind of day ever since.
  5. Kauan vinyl to go on sale in fall
  6. I didn't want to overhype them?
  7. The Killing season 3 -- in preparation of season 4 aug. 1 EDIT: dayum, my eyes keep welling up with tears, and I'm only on episode two. Dayum.
  8. The return of 'Reading Rainbow'
  9. I guess you could call it that. I'll tell you whut, though, if someone were to take a Dell and repackage it in another case without taking it out of the Dell case -- and call themselves a case modder -- they'd go out of business right quick. At least take it out of the Dell case.
  10. Wish they had gone straight to the Harman Kardon edition.
  11. Yeah, it's more subdued on that one than usual, probably due to the custom aspect. To others: for reference -- it usually has this really exaggerated cutout that makes the top look like a dangling chad: EDIT: sorry, that was a horrible example, it's usually much more exaggerated:
  12. Happy birthday! (party favour noise)
  13. I have to admit, I posted as much to hear of any possible fallbacks (the wear and tear thing, in particular, seems "beyond current technology", to paraphrase how grawk so diplomatically put it), because I really like the idea of solar powered cars, directly or indirectly, ever since I read The Oatmeal's diatribe on the Tesla, albeit for entirely different reasons.
  14. That reminds me -- depending on the weather, those high-end audio-technica lambskin pads on various headphones can be really nice. So if you're in Minnesota or Canada, I'd put those above 'everything else'.

  21. Ah, okay. Yeah, the LS3/5a -- although two-way, and not concentric -- was pretty fabulous for near-field listening, largely because that's what they were designed for. I'd lean towards the LS50 just for that reason. I imagine (straightens throat) the imaging would be pretty superior on those. Bookshelf speakers aren't necessarily designed for nearfield listening. So...not quite common knowledge, but it's probably a statistically accurate generalization. I'd be less concerned about the port. The biggest concern with having it close to the wall is that any chuffing might get exaggerated, and I've never been able to hear any on any speaker.
  22. Wait, which ones are full range single drivers?
  23. Spleen Arcana -- one would think other things of this based on either the names or the packaging (dead can dance style album covers, wax paper and leaf in the package), but it's old school prog, pure and simple, and quite good.
