  1. Wish they had gone straight to the Harman Kardon edition.
  2. Yeah, it's more subdued on that one than usual, probably due to the custom aspect. To others: for reference -- it usually has this really exaggerated cutout that makes the top look like a dangling chad: EDIT: sorry, that was a horrible example, it's usually much more exaggerated:
  3. Happy birthday! (party favour noise)
  4. I have to admit, I posted as much to hear of any possible fallbacks (the wear and tear thing, in particular, seems "beyond current technology", to paraphrase how grawk so diplomatically put it), because I really like the idea of solar powered cars, directly or indirectly, ever since I read The Oatmeal's diatribe on the Tesla, albeit for entirely different reasons.
  5. That reminds me -- depending on the weather, those high-end audio-technica lambskin pads on various headphones can be really nice. So if you're in Minnesota or Canada, I'd put those above 'everything else'.

  10. I'm sure they've already settled out of court.
  11. sausage and asparagus sounds good...I might be doing that in a little bit...
  12. Ah, okay. Yeah, the LS3/5a -- although two-way, and not concentric -- was pretty fabulous for near-field listening, largely because that's what they were designed for. I'd lean towards the LS50 just for that reason. I imagine (straightens throat) the imaging would be pretty superior on those. Bookshelf speakers aren't necessarily designed for nearfield listening. So...not quite common knowledge, but it's probably a statistically accurate generalization. I'd be less concerned about the port. The biggest concern with having it close to the wall is that any chuffing might get exaggerated, and I've never been able to hear any on any speaker.
  13. Wait, which ones are full range single drivers?
  14. Spleen Arcana -- one would think other things of this based on either the names or the packaging (dead can dance style album covers, wax paper and leaf in the package), but it's old school prog, pure and simple, and quite good.
  15. My last batch of chili had 4 onions in it, one of which was Vidalia (grilled) -- Dusty approves as well (not that it was needed).
  16. Ihre Ideen faszinieren mich, und ich möchte Ihren Newsletter abonnieren.
  17. Mankind is Obsolete, Möbius Loop -- indie/alternative hard electro-poprock
  18. Aye, you wouldn't have to sell me on it, but ... FOTW and all that ...
  19. I love Sam Stewart, so plucky. And it was nice to see a very young James McAvoy and Dave Tennant. I couldn't help but think of Ali G during the musical number in the episode "The White Feather", despite it having an entirely different intent in this show.
  20. It's been a good week, so far. Jeff -- I'll be 100% in Fairview Park starting next week until I get a fob I need to be able to VPN from home. So if you want to do anything next week, feel free to text me.
  21. Probably because they can report on paper that they have an analog volume control. It's still a selling point unless you have a fair legacy in the digital realm -- Meridian, Wadia, et al.
  22. Foyle's War, which expires on Netflix 5/31. I only just started watching it. And CraigyFerg on 5/14.
  23. I've eaten my chili for both meals today. Even without the beans, it came out perfect.
  24. So far it's been about 50/50 Fairview Park/Woodbridge, but there's talk of moving the Fairview Park portion to Chantilly. Lollers @ "sent from my nerd phone" -- awesome.
