Would have been the 840's (as that is the only thing I remember bringing to the meet). Might also have used whatever was plugged into the machine (Senn HD650's?). Might also have been Colin's Thunderpantses. Don't remember.

Is that the same amp that was at the Virginia meet a while back? Sorry to be the lone voice of dissent, but I was fairly underwhelmed by it. Maybe there's something magical happening with the LCD-2's, but I just couldn't get it to sing. I think I tried it with my Shures.

Me, now, not in car: Pieter Nooten, Here is Why -- not his first album since Sleeps with Fishes, but first one I'm aware of. Going to have to go back and find the other two.

The Dick Dale does stand out a bit. Me: In the car, I thought I was listening to the new Filter, but I just found out I wasn't. I have no idea what it is, but it sounds like Filter after he was listening to too much Porcupine Tree and/or solo Steven Wilson. I had something funny happen in my car -- about two weeks ago (just as it started getting really cool overnight) I accidentally left my iPod in the car, and it usually forgets where it is, and resets all my smart playlists (I set up my smart playlists as "...& (playcount == 0)" to force it to pick up where it left off)...but this time it didn't. So since it was cool, I left it, and it hasn't forgotten since. I'm afraid to touch it, the connection was kind of going out, and I'm afraid that if I lift it (it's face down in the glove compartment), I'll ruin the connection. So I'm going to have to figure out some other way to figure out what it is. Whatever it is, I really like it. First song is about 7 minutes long, and has this really cool syncopated bass line.

That was pretty amazing, ackshully.

Reminds me of a girl...worked in Tower...I forget how the conversation came about, but I remember what came next: Girl: I can't wear anything other than black, it makes my ass look big. Me: (stares at girl's ass) I can't imagine that. (long pause) (Editor's note: she really was fairly petite, I wasn't just flattering her...but not having seen her in anything other than black jeans...who knows? But I honestly suspect she was wrong, and that she had one of those typical low self-esteem self-image issues.) Yes, she really didn't mind. Too bad I was married at the time, it was a fine ass. She liked what she called "glam metal": Poison, Cinderella, etc. (hair metal, basically). Don't remember her name, but remember her taste in music...go figure. Oh, and that she was one of those pale-skinned brunettes. And half my age. Just as well...

A-ha, so this is post-SACD redbook CD's. I was following the discussion, but thought maybe that this was pre-SACD redbooks.

My condolences as well, Shelly. Fifth Element is awesome. And how dare you call Milla anything less than beautiful. Also, Gaultier and Moebius.

The new Filter record, The Trouble with Angels -- dude's been listening to a lot of Porcupine Tree or something. There's some nice unorthodox rhythms and/or time signatures, some nice epic pieces, almost shoegazery, there's one song that sounds like the beginning of Anesthetize...not a bad thing, melikey.

You can also get some idea about the scale by looking at the 1/4" plug.

Hey, don't go ruining my chances at my fortune with your silly logic. How about balanced-upon-balanced? You set up each needle as single-ended rather than balanced. And technically, you still lose any benefit of common mode rejection (with the dual needles), so it's an inferior balanced, not a moar troo balanced. And that's not possessed Justin, that's Justin-with-lasers. I want what he's having.

I love it when they get the eyes right.

Not now, but just got back from Pilin, and they gave me a free desert...again! They must really love me there. I came just before closing, and they waved me down, "sit, sit, eat, eat", making me feel very welcome, and not intruding on their closing time at all. After which I watched them turn 4 people away because they were closed. Not rude, but just calm, consistent, "no, I'm sorry, we're closed", "no, not even for take out", etc. I wonder if they have to go through that every night. But I sat by the window, and practically flaunted my meal in their faces. Not on purpose, just worked out that way. I probably saw as many people and/or groups of people stop by, look in the window, check out the menu, and -- yes, visibly -- think to themselves, "I really need to check this place out when it's open, that looks good."

Delay and flip the polarity and you can have true balanced. Dibs on the patent!

Hey, that's my idea of a good time.

Succinct, but wise, FTW. It's funny 'cause it's true.

I have a nearly complete em:t collection.

Cocktails were my first alcoholic beverage ever. I didn't even know you could drink tequila straight until I tried a really good one...was that last year, or the year before? I think it was last year. I wouldn't drink the stuff I drank in college straight. That whole salt/drink/lime thing was to completely overload the taste organ so that you didn't realize you were drinking swill. Sabotage/camouflage, as it were. What was the question again? I think the answer's, 'yes'.

...an emmy winner. Neil Patrick Harris has twins. He was the best in that episode.

Sounds silly, now. "Green yellow-green." Yes, yes, I know.
