  12. First of it's kind, eh? Looks like they're advertising what gear vendors will be selling, rather than what companies will be there.
  13. Yah, due almost entirely to tyrion's tribulations with them, I quit recommending them. I get the impression, pun only sorta intended, that this is better now, but I'd still make it a cautious recommendation. I do love my JH13s tho.

    Tapers.

That's how I got caught the one time I did (ever). I was at the 930 club in DC, setting up in the bathroom, when in comes security demanding I come out. I'm not sure if they had cameras in the stalls, or if they just randomly did that hoping people would turn themselves in or what. I used all kinds of methods to get gear in. My favorites were the diaper bag and the fedex box. But it's mostly about giving them something else to find. If you have a bottle of water or a beer or something in your bag "kinda" hidden, they'll stop once they find it and take it.

I used a schoeps midside rig for most of my recordings, either mk21h or mk4 as center, and mk8 as side. I used the VMS02iB preamp, and an apogee AD500E AD converter generally, and a sony PCM-M1 or Tascam DA-P1 dat recorder. I started with sony D6 and marantz PMD-430 cassette decks, and used a variety of mics early on, mostly borrowed.

    Tapers.

My recording was split 70/30 authorized/unobtrusive. I mostly tried to record stuff no one else was. I had a small enough setup that if I didn't want to be distracting with my recording setup, no one was bothered...

I was a taper, and never once washed Phil's balls...I enjoyed it for a while, tho it's been quite a few years.

  23. A lot of the world uses ungrounded outlets, it's just a matter of properly designing the equipment. They say you must use a grounded outlet because it's easier than explaining outlet polarity, and better mechanical connections, etc. Basically, saving on customer service complaints. Also, the people that wrote the manual probably never met the people that designed the amplifier.
  24. I never realized Makers was a beam product. Explains a lot. Anyone know why the Willett is dotted?
  25. Mine's the same. I'm guessing it's to make sure the polarity is in the correct direction, but they don't want noise coming in through the ground. It's not a lot of power, and it is a fused outlet...
