It's kinda the opposite of the DE, so I'll have covered all the bases.

I'm currently playing mentally with the idea of a spring lever machine. Since I don't want to move espresso machines between my house and my girlfriend's house twice a week, I'm tempted to get a spring machine for the girlfriend's house.

coffee in a grocery store is often fairly old. You just lose the more subtle flavors as it ages.
-
I solved that by having a grinder, an electric kettle and a french press at my desk, back when that was my schedule. I'd probably do pourover today.

the only non-cow milk I've found to be successful for microfilm is "barista" oat milk

I wouldn't take any of my coffee stuff on a plane, but if I'm driving, there's room for a grinder, for sure.

I dunno, it's not that big or heavy, especially for the quality.

the handle looks cooler, obv. The one on the left might allow for more precise latte art.

went kayaking today, first time kayaking in december. It was 67 degrees.

i’m looking for a set of boost 29” wheels for my 27+ bike too. Today i bought a trek crossrip and a wahoo kicker snap off marketplace (mostly for the wahoo so i can ride indoors with the girlfriend)

I know they closed the coffee shop last month but he said he was going to focus on the bean and grinder sales. Hopefully he comes back online.

ok, sounds fantastic then

That nomad seems to have a pressurized portafilter. Seems like a good alternative to an aeropress for travel, but not an upgrade over most home machines.

They don't currently sell the DE1+ tho, the DE1 Pro is the cheapest machine they sell anymore, so $3500 is the minimum entry, plus you'll want a bluetooth scale with that, as well.

Based on the above, I ordered a Zutto as well. I liked my prior zoji, which I gave away, so I had need for a drip machine.

the lelit is a solid machine

yeah, i got in the first wave. I wouldn’t consider it now. Even tho $4000 today seems the same as $1600 4 years ago.

the bad espresso thing is the great thing about the decent: lots of data about what went wrong

for me a scale means I can think less about the process before I've had coffee. I know I need 15g of beans in and 38g of espresso out to get a cup I enjoy. My espresso machine actually talks to the scale, so it shuts off automatically, but even just having a number to look at to hit stop works for me as well. It's really easy to make better espresso than a typical coffee shop, you just have to care a little about your results. Your goal isn't 50 cups an hour, it's 1-3 a day, so a process that takes twice as long isn't going to even be noticeable. That was one thing I learned when I set up my espresso machine at that convention this summer. I dumbed things down to weigh beans, grind into portafilter, quick tamp, and start espresso, and taught a few people how to do it, and everyone was saying how much better it was than any coffee shop coffee.
